My dad is a firefighter and he went on a house fire once (3-4 weeks ago). He came home the next day and we were watching the news like normal people and he caught something that not many people would know. The reporter said two firefighters had fallen off a ladder and needed to be taken away by the medic. This didn’t happen at all and he knows this because he was there. One firefighter was hurt trying to get in but no one was taken away. The news puts false statements into their stories to engage the audience. I agree and am not surprised.The news does this all the time in such subtle ways to seem more dramatic!!!! we got struck with a hurricane a few years ago, and it wasn't very bad..a couple damaged power lines and some wind and rain. A few years before that we had a really bad hurricane, areas were flooded, we were without power for weeks and had a state of emergency. When they were broadcasting about the recent hurricane, I noticed they were showing clips of some of our main roads flooded. We decided to drive out there to see because we all agreed it wasnt very bad outside. The streets were perfectly fine. No flooding what so ever. After some looking into it, we realized they used old video footage from a past hurricane and did not specify. People were calling their families from away worried and wondering if we were okay.. when in reality it was just a little windier than usual..nothing to be worried about!

Most ironic part of the story: one of the worst news in present day society is that "Media is the real-life Illuminati, and they must be destroyed for good of the humankind." Although Trump ranting about all the "Fake-News" is simply crazy, it is still pretty deranging to have Media controlling what information you have easy access to. That being said, I wonder if they are trying to be a New Bible, or even a new God.

The thing I wanted to comment on is the "Copy Cat" effect and how much I hate it. Working in retail, I witness this kind of behavior all the time. Once someone leaves a shopping cart somewhere, others will leave theirs right next to it. Someone takes a shirt off a hanger and tosses it over the rack, so does everyone who grabs something off that rack then decides not to buy it. This also happens a lot in the dressing room. Someone opens a box to look at the item inside, soon one of each type of box is opened. I have learned that if you see this kind of thing you have to fix it right away or it just gets worse and worse the longer you ignore it.

Film Theory is basically the channel for any theory that is not game related. I would love to see a theory on what a -12 dollar bill (as seen in gravity falls) would do to the economy.
@RK-ep8qy6 жыл бұрын
Julia Catherine YES YES YES
@Националбольшевик-ъ4щ6 жыл бұрын
Julia Catherine how exactly did this bill work in Gravity falls what was its utility? This would never be possible based on the way currency works, the lowest available piece in currency is 1¢ you can increase the value of that but too much and too fast deflation is bad anyway. Because -12$ is a negative value if you took measures to make it useable (which could never be achieved anyway) you would crash the economy, goods would become worthless, you would have to exponentially deflate currency and could never even reach the point of 0$ having any worth let alone -12$, you would just increase the value of 1¢. In order for -12$ to have value you would need a new type of economic system. At most in our current system a -12$ bill could represent that you owe an institution money, but what would be the point in creating a bill for that, plus how would you keep up with who has the negative bills, in order to collect the debt? It would be pointless to create a bill to represent your debt, we have much better ways of tracking debt.

Basically, it is like a breath-holding contest, but you exhale all of the air in your lungs before starting, and whoever goes longer without inhaling wins. This is the hard version. The normal version is simply not inhaling or exhaling before starting, and seeing how long you can go when the lungs are in the normal condition. My record for the normal version is 30 seconds. I have not tried the hard version. By the way, I made this up yesterday. I was bored, at lunch, so I had this idea. The day was otherwise normal, just me sitting in my room drawing missiles.

The tide pod meme started on Tumblr. There was a big post with lots of pictures of things that "look" like they would be good to eat like bath bombs,bouncy balls,tide pods and so on ("the forbidden fruits"). But for what ever reason everyone started latching on to the tide pods. Then the memes started,they leaked on to other websites and then kids started interpreting it as a "challenge" to eat tide pods. It was never about *actually* consuming tide pods. It was about people with intrusive thoughts of eating things they shouldn't.

I study journalism, and in class they’ve told us that while it’s important to keep the public informed and be honest, it’s also important that we keep the public engaged. Sometimes, the actual news don’t catch people’s attention, so that’s why some journalists/newspapers decide to report dumb news that people will actually be interested in, just like you said. It’s a sad reality that that kind of behavior is approved of.

So he is complimenting MatPat for using clickbait to explain to people of the media’s manipulation while using the TidePod challenge as an example of media manipulation to teach us that we shouldn’t take everything the media says at face value and to do our own research and come up with our own opinion on these matters.

Ain't near as much money in making people feel safe. People spend their time and money trying to get that, might as well make them afraid if your goal is to sell them stories, and you can then manipulate your story to push them towards an ideological end goal through fear. See every "inequality isn't going down fast enough" and "government is working to make you poor" that always gets talked about, meant to push you towards a certain thought process.
