Film: "UJAMAA AFRICA, the great dream of Julius NYERERE in Tanzania."

Michel-Yves GATTEPAILLE. The Ujamaa experience had been unique in Africa. It was based on family unit, equality and dignity; it took place in Tanzania from 1967 to 1984. Julius NYERERE was one of the greatest President in Africa and for 21 years he presided over Tanzania from 1964 to 1985 ; he died on October 14, 1999. More twenty years after the death of Julius NYERERE, today is an oppotunity to pay tribute to the first President of the United Republic of Tanzania, a sincere and honest man who has tried to implement another type of development.
