First Time Here?
Thanks for being here. I know your time is valuable, so I'll keep it short. I own a company called 4LC Studios. I do video production (weddings, commercial, and anything else that grabs our attention). This youtube channel and everything I post is about the journey. I love sharing what I'm learning, how I'm growing, and how I'm failing. I hope you'll follow my journey and be a part of the conversation.

the most important thing is good shots, lot of shots, random shots, Brolls, inserts, when you are tired, keep the cam rolling you never know what you might get, lot of memory cards, extra batteries, chargers and more shots, raw shots are heavy on storage drives but worth it expensive too, you get the best color correction. No matter what editing program you have, as long as you have tons of shots, sit down, have some coffee or some wine and start the preview and organizing your work, the more your project is organized, the easier the editing is. Index window your best friend. Favorites, used, unused, roles, sub roles ,renaming all clips according to your vision , plan. I said the most important thing about videography, no matter what kind is production, good shots, extra shots and more shots sometimes you repeat them twice and more. A good videographer shoot with editing in mind like you are shooting and in the same time you are working on a rough cut in your brain and you know what you need. sometimes when you are editing, you get tired so you have to stop , take a break , get some sleep, watch a movie, get laid, go out, have fun. when you come back you might get better ideas . best ideas happen to me while I am in a bar having a drink or just sitting in a café having my latte or something, I take notes. when you are done, have different people watching it and take notes. better people that have a basic of editing or not. forgot Take advantage of natural lights, they are the best, crisp sound. to put it in a nut shell. MOre shots, lot of shots like a huge roll of fabric you end up with, then you get your scissors, meter, sewing machine if you have one or just get a needle or some shit , be creative stitch some good shit into a wonderful shit. peace.

I've tried a few but what plugin do you use to stabilize a shot more. I've tried core melt & fcpx stabilizer?

I actually bought it but it wouldn't give me anything in the inspector screen so I got my money back. I would like it and the tracking one too.

Scott McKenna please excuse me for all the question. I use to record, edit and schedule other camera operators at the church I was attending. I became the video production manager, (volunteer), there and after two years I had to step down. once I left the church I lost access to all of the camera gear. I’m on a tight budget for gear but I’m researching for good quality budget friendly stuff. I love the art of photography and videography. Please check out my playlist “my edits” there you can see my camera work and editing for the church. I also started that KZbin channel for them. On my channel you’ll see what I’ve created. I would live some creative input from you! Please and thank you!!!

No need to apologize. Gear definitely cost money, but it's getting more and more affordable for stuff that does a great job. Buy what you can when you can, and build from there.

I really like your vid's and channel! I am also a GH5 filmer and I like to know if you are filming in 24 fps 10 bit or 60 fps 8 bit, or do you change this during the day. Like in the evening?

Terrific video that provides valuable insight into the details of how you plan and shoot a wedding. I particularly like how you use the different locations to your advantage; utilizing natural light, water reflections and other elements. The Inspire 2 footage was outstanding and overall this is one of my favorite videos on your channel.

Scott, how do you handle all that footage once the edits are done? Do you save the good files only deleting the rest, or do you keep all the stuff? What is the way to save storage space in the most efficient manner?
@scottmckenna
@scottmckenna 6 жыл бұрын
+Oleg Korzun I keep everything, and rarely delete any files even if I’m not going to use it. Space is cheap these days so I’m not concerned. Watch my video on storage workflow for a more in depth look at how I utilize and organize space.

How do you give them the raw footage (USB, CD, online, etc)? I am guessing this ends up being a LOT of GB so I am curious as I am considering implementing your type of pricing system. Thanks!
