First of all, a HUGE THANK YOU to @spaceclubfirenze for letting me come film. You were all so welcoming and accommodating, and I'm so grateful for the opportunity you gave me. If anyone's visiting Florence, go to Space!
Tips for getting hired at the job you want! (With #videography or #photography)
1. If possible, come in with a portfolio that shows you'll be a competent hire. If the work you have to show is relevant to the content you'd be making for them, even better.
2. LOOK to see if there's a particular kind of content they're missing or doing ineffectively, and in your pitch, frame yourself as the solution to that problem. Or straight up ASK how you can be most helpful.
3. Contact them about a job, be professional and respectful, and emphasize how you'd be able to bring value and help them. Remember, It's all about how you can help THEM, not how they can help you.
So many people just ask for opportunities (ex: "Can I shadow you for a day? I'd really appreciate it!"). This provides little incentive for someone to hire you.
4. Do it for free **if you can**. This will give you incredible opportunities that will lead to more money in the future.
5. Email MULTIPLE potential jobs. It's a numbers game. Try not to get too hung up on one place.
6. It's totally fair game to do a follow up email or two if you don't get a response. Be respectfully persistent, and be cognizant of how you're coming across. Seeming desperate or annoying often comes down to wording.
