I would recommend: - perhaps getting some plants for your background to add a bit of life and a natural aesthetic! - Putting up a round mirror in-between the two larger Alex drawers to make a desk area or to make the room look bigger this helps 💗 - adding some art that fits with your current style! You could even draw ur as you said you were good at art in school then it will be unique to anyone else’s home! The range do really great frames that are a decent size for only £5.99! - maybe adding a clothes rack for more fashion and clothing videos 💅🏼 - putting up some curtains to make the room feel more homely and put together 🤩 this also makes your windows appear bigger apparently 😂 Hope this helped! Congrats on the house Soph! I've redone two houses in my life and here are the things I've picked up on the way when doing it (and when living with someone else): Make sure you know what type of paint you get! We tried to paint over plaster with the wrong paint (we'd seen a decorator use it) and it turned the paint into plastic sheets that peeled off. It was still patchy after 3 layers. Get rid of the carpets! It makes the house easier to clean, really helps with allergies, dries better so less risk of mould and doesn't get ugly marks from moving furniture around. I did my 3 bedroom house for £500 with cheap vinyl and it has held up really nicely. Some companies even send extra tools just in case (they just click in). If you dislike the look of the drawers you can just get contact paper or fancy knobs from somewhere like TkMaxx to spice them up without having to pay for a new chest of drawers. Get two duvets for the bed. Best thing I've ever done. Second best thing I've ever done was get a lower desk and to use a exercise ball instead of a chair. Helps with my crappy posture and works my core without actually feeling like a workout. My back is very grateful lol. Get smoke detectors for each room, and a heat detector for the kitchen. It is recommended by the fire department but not required so loads of times when you buy a house there's just smoke detectors in the hallway, but electrical fires are a real risk where things are plugged in over night. You can get cheap ones with a 10 year life span on amazon that is recommended by the fire department!

Hey Soph, congratulations on finally moving in, feels like ages ago you spoke about looking for houses/having your offer approved etc. Few types from me for decorating - picked up from my 6 years of living with my painter/decorator boyfriend: When painting hold the paint brush horizontally rather than vertically, itll make it easier to paint round plug sockets, skirting etc If your going to be touching the walls a lot your better having silk so it can be gently wiped down, Matte will not wipe down well at all If you're painting a full room you're better to cut in (paint round the skirting boards etc) for the full room first then roll the full room rather than doing bit by bit, itll save time. Just a few tips if you're doing any other rooms😊 For the background you should move the fairy lights to cover the full wall and get your name down on a metal sign for in front of the lights, it would be so cute! A company I use is Bear and Rose and they do lovely well art😊 Congrats again!😊❤

Use the frog tape to put around things like the socket so you don’t get paint on it that’s actually what frog tape is for 😂 it’s works very well I used it after not having a clue what it was either!!

Ideas for the fairly light background!! Shelving with bits and bobs on like fancy perfumes, plants, lipsticks etc. If you don’t want shelves on the wall, ladder shelves are so cute!! Also, sophx as a neon sign would look great! For pops of colour you could do a gallery wall with lots of different sized pictures and/or a brightly coloured armchair with cute cushions and throws! hi soph when we moved into our first home , i did the papering and my hubby did the painting , gosh we had fun it was amazing and then doing the gardening , our neighbours loved our garden we found a old motor sctooter buried under the lawn , my god how much did we hurt in places you hadnt realised you had places , but it was fun .my hubby a police officer me a registered nurse, then trying to work at the same time but we never stopped laughing . we had a great time.but doing the garden we were fighting with a big root of a bush and we were fighting with it i fell over and broke my wrist ! yes trying to work with a cast well not good ! especially when i worked in intensive care !.i had a sterile bandage wrapped round it and changing it regularly my god it was awful ! but hey the joys of gardening !

I have like a white sofa bed which you can solely use as a sofa, if you put like palm leaf pillows and a cute blanket on it, it could be a cute place to sit! Also it pulls out so you can make it longer, and it has draws so it can store extra pillows or makeup or whatever u want. I feel like that would be a really cute background! It would look really cute especially in that corner with the fairy lights with the draws infront!

Hi soph, congratulations on the new house 🥂 a few things that might help. That masking tape you had, the frog tape is really good for “cutting in” which is basically the edges. So for example, put the masking tape on the skirting, paint the wall right up to the tape and you will have a perfect finish of a straight line. In terms of your background, don’t overthink it, just a few small touches will be fine and build on it with time. Put one set of your tall drawers in the corner in front of the lights and then you could place a candle, your KZbin plaque etc on there. Possibly a tall plant, that always looks nice, and/or a hanging planter. For a pop of colour you could put a nice throw over your chair so you just see a small amount of it at the bottom, maybe put your desk in front of you so you can have all your products laid out in front of you out of shot. You could easily upcycle your drawers with dc fix/ fablon, so many designs to choose from, really easy to apply and inexpensive. Personally I always change the lock to any new house I get. I always worry how many spare keys may have been cut and anybody could have, it’s usually inexpensive and you can do it yourself, watch a video. By doing that it just adds an extra layer of security. A ring doorbell is brilliant. One of the best things we’ve bought for the house. Also last thing, please ensure you have enough fire alarms in your home and that they are working. Buy a carbon monoxide alarm too. Their similar to a smoke alarm that obviously detects carbon monoxide as there is no smell to it and you wouldn’t know you had it in your home but it would make you very ill! Anyway, essay over, hope some of that might help. Take care x

I think the room looks great so far. If you continues the fairy lights along the back wall, it would be a nice idea. Also perhaps a nice rug, statement chair, a shelving unit to display special pieces and you can also get personalised blinds printed with images so maybe one made with a nod towards your u tube channel. If your worried about the light, b and q are excellent for light bulbs and do some that have a very crisp white light, look for one with the highest amount of lumens as they are brighter. Loving your videos and congratulations on yours and James new home. Hope you guys are super happy there x P.s a little too for when your decorating, a cheap pack of baby wipes is so handy for little slip ups, eg getting pain on sockets and switches etc. If you wrap one around your finger you can wipe the paint off in a second x

Just a tip for future rooms - when painting around sockets/skirting boards, start painting about 2 inches away from where you need the clean line to be and work your way towards the line moving your brush back and forwards. That way you have a little bit less product on your brush but still enough for a clean, bleed free line 👍🏼🙂 I’d still recommend using masking tape if you’re a beginner but if you’d rather skip that step then this will work. Also, paining is really a good workout! 😂 Ps, this isn’t a criticism, you’ve done a great job, I just want to help 😘
