Filming Wild Foxes on the Canon EOS R6 | DESERTS OF INDIA Chapter 5 - CHILDREN OF SPRING

Chapter 5 of my Deserts Of India series is finally here! Titled Children Of Spring, this is the second last instalment of the Kutch series where I spent five days filming and photographing Foxes and their young ones. We're going to observe them up close, understand their behaviour and experience a potpourri of unbound emotion. I'll bring you precious moments of liberty, joy and innocence; all coupled together with instinct, survival and family.
I previously introduced you to two Desert Fox mothers, Imli and Secret; this time, I'll introduce you to a new Fox mum, Nightshade. She's an Indian Fox (Bengal Fox) and she has three young ones that are barely a few weeks old. Her den is situated in the middle of a farm, 30kms outside the Little Rann of Kutch. As this leash of Foxes displays hints of coexistence and habitat loss, we'll discover just how much biodiversity exists outside protected areas.
Fox pups are also called cubs or kits, and capturing intimate moments of them had its fair share of trials and triumphs. I'll show you the mistakes I made as well as the different strategies I used, including building a photography hide / blind to shoot from. Waiting outside the dens for several hours gave me fantastic natural history sightings sometimes, and other times, no activity at all.
This chapter is really close to my heart, it took painstaking weeks to put together and it's nearly the length of a Netflix documentary. Check it out when time permits and I hope you enjoy these wonders of the Little Rann of Kutch. :)

I'm sure glad to hear that, Saravana! I'm also gonna look forward to the day our paths cross somewhere in the Indian Himalayas, far from the man-made world. I've used both the R5 and R6 that some friends of mine have. Not a fan because of the overheating whilst shooting 4k 10-bit video; still photography is great. Back to the Fox shoot, the R6 heated up and died on me several times. I missed out on the most beautiful moments that took me months to get to. For now, the only mirrorless cameras I prefer are the A7sIII & the A1. Colder climates will be more forgiving with the Canons.

Hello Kenneth, I regularly watch your videos about Indian wildlife here in Germany. You talked about habitat loss when you saw the hyena with the factory lights in the background. I think we should be happy that hyena or nilgai and factories or farms can coexist.
