Forbidden Love in Ancient Egypt: The High Priest's Hatred and a Millennium of Revenge

The Mummy (1999) is an adventure-action film about a group of explorers who unwittingly resurrect the ancient priest Imhotep in Egypt. Imhotep was buried alive in the ground of Hamunaptra with a terrible curse for breaking a taboo.
In 1926, British librarian Evelyn, her brother Jonathan, and American adventurer Rick O'Connell traveled to Egypt in search of the legendary Hamunaptra. They inadvertently release the sealed Imhotep. The resurrected Imhotep gradually regains his strength and intends to resurrect his lover, Ansunam, using Evelyn as a sacrifice.
Rick and his companions must find a way to stop Imhotep's curse before it spreads, and eventually succeed in defeating the undead mummy. The movie combines elements of ancient Egyptian lore, adventure and humor with thrilling and tense scenes.
