In the beginning, Chief was incredibly wary of seeing the Arbiter appear out of active camouflage behind the Marines because, before he crash landed back on Earth, he had spent weeks aboard the Prophet of Truth’s ship at the end of Halo 2 as it traveled to Earth. In that time he was in complete mission and survival mode, causing trouble for the Covenant forces aboard, and even coming close to assassinating Truth before he was stopped by a Jackal Sniper (the true menaces). Even as the ship reached Earth, it remained in orbit for a while longer while the planet was battling before we see it enter the atmosphere. It’s a much larger ship than you’d realize so Chief had to play cat n mouse dealing with the outnumbering Covenant. So there’s some context as to why Chief was really not having it when he saw an Elite approach, unbeknownst to him that they’re at a truce.

One very cool note about the funeral at the end: Spartans weren't ever officially listed as KIA because the UNSC feared people would lose hope if they knew Spartans could be killed. So all Spartans were listed as MIA, chief getting his number marked on the memorial is a nice way of giving closure to all the other Spartans that died in the war. He was allowed to be officially laid to rest. Which is ironic considering he really was MIA.

Halo 3 has couple of my all time favourite video game moments; Lord Hood's speech at the end is, IMO, still incredible even thought it is fairly simple. "They ennobled all of us, and they shall not be forgotten." Chills, even as I type it now. And an utterly heartwarming call back -moment, when Cortana says "Keep your head down. There's two of us in here now, remember?" She says that in Combat Evolved when/if you take health damage the first time on Pillar of Autumn. When I heard that way back when, playing Halo 3 the first time, I had to take a moment to gather myself after that.

The story has potential to be on this level. Not the levels of H2 and H3. That’ll never happen. But something akin to that. However, until 343 and Microsoft clean up their management with development on the next Halo game… Infinite had great Chief moments but had so many other issues pertaining to it along with feeling very unfinished. Halo Wars 2 had a different feel of story telling due to being and RTS but it was still a great story introducing a new baddie. But the jump from Promethian and Mantle of Responsibility plot to then the Banished plot needed a lot of clarity and had many plot holes. 343 needs to incorporate more relatable stories to the Banished and large hint to Offensive Bias in the next game.

Halo 3 is the only time (except Halo 5) where all players in co-op are canon. Player 1 is Master Chief, Player 2 is Thel Vadame (Arbiter), Player 3 is N'tho 'Sraom (SpecOps), and Player 4 is Usze 'Taham (Ascetic). The only quirk is that each of the elites were sometimes canonically elsewhere for parts of missions. Like Arbiter is obviously there in Mission 1 when he points out the Brute capturing Johnson, but he's obviously canonically at the second tower on the Ark while Chief is at the first before they meet up to take the third.
@TheNoobyNoob18 ай бұрын
There was actually a recent book that explored them deeper but I can’t remember. I’ve gone back and started reading some of the recent novels actually though. Even if 343 is flubbing up the narrative, at least good writers are still being given access to the canon in other media.

Johnson was indeed a first generation super soldiers, part of the Orion Project that came before the Spartan Program. The Ark's true purpose is indeed the creation of Halo rings, and created 6 of the array of 7 we come to know of in Halo 2 and 3. The Ark (Installation 00) and the rings it birthed weren't the Forunners first attempts at galactic scale super weapons. The Forunners originally built a much larger Ark (called the Greater Ark) which built 12 Halo rings that we're much bigger than the ones that came later (30,000km compared to the 10,000km ones we see in the Bungie trilogy) The Forunners abandoned the array of 12 when flaws in the design became obvious and built the Lesser Ark and the array of 7 we see in first three Halo games. the Flood would destroy the Greater Ark and 11 of the 12 larger rings. the sole surviving member of the array of 12 would be rebuilt to match the design of the rings built by the Lesser Ark. Installation 07 (Zeta Halo), the same Halo ring that Halo Infinite takes place on

I cant wait to watch this, I hope you had lots of fun with it!!! I also so you saw "Halo Legends" ironically my favorite ep was your least fav lol. I love the high action in it, it was animated by the people that made "Robotech the Shadow Chronicles" so they are good at making stuff look like Mechs. Robotech and Battletch are also my fav franchise, and it its cool to see they have both helped make Halo stuff. Battletech / Fasa was involved in the creation of Halo 3 while Robotech inspired some of the scenes in the games, including scenes with the Cov fleet. I have a couple lore answer, I will make them short. You asked if those goofy space bikes are canon, they are XD Its for Spartans only, because no one else would have the armor to fly them in space, they are expendable heavy weapons platforms. You asked what that Human capital ship was in "The Package" I dont remember the class name, but it is an ONI ship that used for deep recon and ship assassinations. It uses a different kind of cloak that is more similar to what we are experimenting with in real life, projected images and such. As for the Suit in "The Package" it was based on the Mk1 Spartan suit, it was supposed to be much more heavily armed, but it required a nuclear generator that wasnt miniaturized to power it. Two groups tried to make Power Armor, The MJOLNIR required super humans durable enough to handle the armors movement. The other group tried to make that armor safe for normal humans, Hrunting, named after beowulfs sword, they ended up basing after the Spartans "Mk 2" In the end, most of the things made from the "Hrunting" program have become full on Mechs, not power armor, because on fix for making them save for normal humans was to make it so the speed and reaction time of the mech was slow so the pilots limbs dont get ripped off. I guess they came to the conclusion it would be easier to just make Mechs. Also theirs crossover with those two programs because in the War with Cortana and the Banished, some Spartan IVs were using Gen 2 Spartan armor that was encased in special Hrunting style power armor, like form the Prototype episode. They used them for heavy assaults. Peace be with you and I love your Halo videos, I wish I could give you more, but the economy is just so bad, I dont even buy Halo stuff, DLC nor physical, just because how bad things are.

16:50 One of my favourite things is that structure on the right side of the screen that the warthogs re driving towards... that's the Forward unto Dawn. That's a UNSC Frigate, inside the hangar bay of Rtas Vadum's Kerel pattern carrier, the Shadow of Intent, and it likely comfortably carried the rest of the human ships that were attending the battle of Installation 0 through the portal. The Forward unto dawn is a speck compared to the Shadow of Intent. Infinity is barely larger than the Shadow, and both of them could comfortably fit in the hangar bay of Long Night of Solace... twice. Edit: 17:59 That's a good shot, that's the Shadow of Intent with the remains of it's battle group, 8 Ket pattern Battlecruisers. 2, maybe 3 of those cruisers could fit in the hangar bay of the Shadow for refuel and re-arm, each of them are just over 3 times the size of the Dawn. Edit the second: 40:34 Clearly, Lord Admiral Terrence Hood, you do not, because first contact with the covenant, and what started the war, was an encounter with a Brute ship on Harvest, the Elites had nothing to do with first contact.

My family didn't own an xbox until after it was released, so I never did play Halo 2 when all my friends were. That said, every so often I'll return to these first three games and watch their cutscenes ( the "game movies"), and every time I'm reminded just how *brilliant* they are. The characters, the story, the pacing... everything works so well. Then there's the music. Even to this day, what feels like a full lifetime after I first picked up that 360 controller and started playing Halo 3, the music brings me to tears. It's epic, sorrowful, impactful, gentle, and all the flavors in-between, right when it needs to be. Truly masterpieces in their own right. As such, the original Halo trilogy isn't merely a trilogy of masterpieces, but an orchestra of masterpieces, weaving a story through color, song, and voice, split into a trilogy. Halo 3 stands to this day as one of _the_ best Halo games to date. The music score, the conclusion to the original trilogy, the finished fight, everything made it so legendary in 2007. The reunification between Chief and Cortana was a bittersweet one, and the cutscene combined with the music nearly brought me to tears. And even listening to the soundtrack by itself (on Spotify as well) still manages to bring chills and tears because you can just picture which cutscene the music is playing for. Bravo, Bungie and Marty. Bravo.

The ark is out of range of all active halo rings. Similarly, the halo ring at the ark is out of range of the galaxy, meaning lighting it normally, which was essentially the plan, would be a tactical pulse as spark said, with no effect on the rest of the galaxy

I got chills rewatching the cutscenes multiple times while watching this. This video makes me want to replay the game once again. I can't wait for you to react to Halo 4. In my opinion, it has some of the most emotional scenes in the series. amazing work my friend. keep it up!

So many cool Easter eggs in these cutscenes. Notice how the marines salute to Miranda, Johnson and Chief, but drop the salute when the Arbiter walks by because they dont respect him or see him as a part of their ranks.

Loving the react series! Halo always gives me chills. Some notes for you: When you noticed the scene right after the new ring reveal, where you said it looks old school like a painting, that's because it is a painting used there! It's very cool! When they say light the ring, they do mean activate it because they are currently on the ark outside the galaxy, so it won't affect the rest of the galaxy. Also, high charity, where you left cortana in 2, the covanents home base that got infested just landed, so that means the grave mind from halo 2 is here, and killing it with halo would be a huge blow, if not wipe out the flood for the most part. I do agree, halo is one of the best trilogies of all time!! If you haven't experienced it, mass effect is also an absolutely amazing trilogy

Like the other guy said there were multiple brutes, but i always looked at it like the Brute minor was told to hold him, but after seeing him get punched around by Johnson, Truth made the chieftain take over since the brute minor was doing an embarrassing job.
@Revan_Reborn8 ай бұрын
that's actually a bug that only has one fix. if you reload the previous areas load zone by travelling over the mountain and then coming back, that minor will be a chieftain as intended.

29:06 To answer your question, in Single Player, you play as the Chief, and the Arbiter has his own path as an AI. But in multiplayer, P1 is Chief, P2 the Arbiter, P3 & P4 are Elites named N'tho 'Sraom and Usze 'Taham. An interesting aspect as well, in Single Player, the Campaign works slightly differently, like the Arbiter has a set path, where he'll disappear and reappear in specific areas on different levels. As well as how on the mission; Floodgate, when the other Elites rock up to help, if on Single Player, alot of Elites come down to help, if on Multiplayer, very few appear. I love how they've done this, I kinda wish that all other Halo's had a similar aspect to the Coop side, instead of just having a clone of Chief. Like having P2,3,4 as ODST instead. Halo Reach you can design your own Spartan so that's a fair and pretty nicely done.

The Halo trilogy is just so good. It's the best video game story, in my opinion. I tear up in those emotional moments in Halo 3 especially.

for when you mentioned some of the zooms looking bad, i think those might be shots within the actual game. i know some of the sets (maybe all of them in this game) are in game sets that people can look around in if you detach the camera, and they have the characters moving around in them. but like at 5:36 you can press A, you can gain control of chief and the scene is still playing. you can kill the Chieftain before the cutscene is supposed to end. i dont remember if he dies in the scene, or if he dies right after the animation is over. i normally get a sniper rifle, and take him out before he can use his invincibility. the reticle doesnt show because technically its still a cutscene, but if you know where it is, you can take off his helmet and get a headshot while hese still pushing Johnson.
@goldenhedgehog98 ай бұрын
That one and the cutscene where the Shadow of Intent drops the elites during floodgate are the 2 cutscenes i know off the top of my head that you can exit and play while they are happening. I usually do it on floodgate because if you save the elites, the squad leader and arbiter will talk about High Charity being fully infected and that the ship that crashed on earth broke quarantine even though the fleet surrounding high charity was hundreds of ships.

I would guess the painted backgrounds were for budget. Someone went data diving and found out that EVERY rock in the mission “the covenant” is the same rock just spun around and shrank or shrunk. Smartest use of asset reuse I’ve ever seen

One other bit i dont see mentioned here: Arbiter's line at the memorial to Lord Hood: "Were it so easy", is the first line he says in the game too, to Chief when he put a gun to his head.

Hey, I just want to let you know that this game has so many small little mini cutscenes in the actual missions that it just needs to be played honestly, Forward unto Dawn's arrival, fucking goosebumps every time This is the edit: About the artwork backgrounds, if they tried it in the game engine, it would never have looked as amazing as it does, one of those stylistic choices that I'm pretty sure everyone says thank fucking God they made it that way. Because the detail they packed into them like fleshing out forerunner structure details and even the hexplate of high charity and even that one shot of all the forerunner structures in just open plains. Fucking beautiful and also fleshes out what the these installations look like from halo 1.

Fun fact about the High Charity mission cutscenes, those were actually painted scenes with the rest of the cutscene laid over them, and honestly the artwork is incredible, and it really evokes that otherworldly vibe from the flood in comparison to the rest of the game being done entirely in the game engine

Halo is hands down the best trilogy in gaming. Everything comes full circle. My favorite thing about Halo is scale. You don’t realize how large Chief is, the elites, the ships, guilty spark, the ark all of it is just enormous. Just imagine if we got this as a final season of a live action Halo show. You down to be a showrunner and direct?

I got my start on KZbin and in video editing through Halo Cutscenes, so I arguably have an equal amount of nostalgia watching the cutscenes as I do for the series itself, and Halo 3 specifically.

In Halo 3, if you play Co-Op, you'll play as Chief (P1), Arbiter (P2), N'tho 'Sraom (P3) and Usze 'Taham (P4), the last two got entire stories written about them with backstory and all, and are both badasses in their own ways

Halo wars 2 took place on the same ark from this game. Happens later in the timeline but it’s the same location. Few of the newer books mention it and even take place on it post halo 3. As of right now in the story, Atriox’s invading army is still on the ark. Trapped fighting Captain Cutter and the Spirit of Fire
