Been waiting for this! It’s ok honestly. They are not disbanding at all. This is technically not a hiatus either (means a break without doing work). The news outlets acted like they were when it’s not a big deal. Everyone has compared them to One Direction. This isn’t abnormal in kpop. Breaks in the western music Industry and breaks in the kpop industry are different and it bothers a lot of armies that they compared BTS to the western industry when they don’t know how it works BTS have been on breaks before. Each member even have their own solo music too so nothing new is really happening. Like Jhope said, it’s a time to grow Individually so they can come back together stronger as one. They need his break. And it’s very sad that they broke down crying because they were afraid of disappointing us. Army lets give equal attention to ALL members and support them in their work so we can have a stronger BTS in the future. Side note: I can totally imagine jk having a bunch of mattresses in his house-

Hi alex, i guess it's not the right letter that came after 2022's festa. If I'm not mistaken, this letter is from 2020. The 2022 is about how he kinda disappointed about how the media turned their honesty into something different. Even he wrote "courage to be honest always ends up in unnecessary misunderstandings and creates disasters". Good luck finding the right letter :)

EDIT: omg I just realized you're not reading THAT letter 😭😭😭 for context, he wrote another letter a couple days after the festa video dropped. everything below applies for that other letter. namjoon's letter wasn't to correct any translation errors. everyone who watched the video understood their message perfectly. namjoon was addressing the media in an attempt to protect both bts and army because as soon as the video dropped, """journalists""" were taking their words out of context and twisting their meaning on an EXTREMELY wide scale. this festa video was supposed to be an explanation for army, where they opened up and spoke about everything they'd been dealing with all this time, but outsiders who have no idea what our relationship is like swooped in and took advantage of an incredibly raw and vulnerable moment. it doesn't come across really well in the translated letter, but namjoon's tone was very curt and cold when he addressed the media. it made me realize how much he loves his team and how hard he was trying to protect all of us.

I think it wasnt Covid. The anthology album was supposed to be released after MOTS7. Thus BLACK SWAN makes more sense now. It was the idea that was never fully realized by all of us that they were experiencing what the song meant. Because of covid all the plans of tour and the anthology album was postponed, they wang to take that break 2yrs ago. Bit they just couldnt do that with the pandeminc happening. So instead of releasing an album they released 3 englisg singles and BE album that's full of emotions, re: Life Goes On that was so perfect during those time. They barely hung themselves for 2yrs. And they wanted to take this best time best opportunity to do what was planned 2yrs ago. I applaud them for staying for those 2 stressful years. Even if things happened not according to their plans, they achieved a lot, more. But they really were so tired. Thwy deserve this. Their individuality deserves to shine now. I kind of get what RM was saying I can't imagine how much time and lyrics they spent on their albums but for 2 songs that isn't even written by themselves and have no specific meaning such as the song: Butter, Dynamite to get nominated for the Grammys and they have to sing in a language that is not their mother language probably felt...... bad.. they themselves said songs like "run bts, bulletproof pt" felt the most like themselves but ironically it is dynamite they received grammy nomination they just felt a bit lost direction So bts is going to take a break (not disbanding) and find themselves and inspirations (these days RM is traveling around the world and he was just at switzerland and V is currently at Paris attending fashion week and Jin is at jeju island) I hope they find happiness :D Just... for them to do this in the peak of their career, felt how genuine they are especially most artist and groups dont even write their own songs and bts felt when they sig this "dynamite" song (which is amazing) but there is no meaning behind it, felt like they are losing their identity

Hi alex! I think the letter you read was the wrong one. The letter you should be reading is the one where he's disappointed at the media for twisting their words and for butting in ARMY and BTS business when clearly the FESTA dinner was supposed to be for ARMYS only.

I feel like it's different than a TV show having a hiatus, because these men have given their youth to this group, 24/7 for a decade. They have worked so hard for so long... They deserve a break to refresh themselves and restock the creative bits. I'm sad that this has given them so much pain, and I'm very happy to see them exploring the world and what they like. They've given us so much, and it's time they got to enjoy what they've worked so hard for. 💜💜💜

j-hopes solo album is coming on July 15th with a track which will be pre-released on July 1st, we don't know if that song have a music video. I love how you took this video in a positive way, just like armys did, cause a lot of things happened on social media and some articles even wrote "bts is disbanding" but like you said, it's like we are waiting for a new season, and meanwhile during that waiting period we will be getting their solo contents, their solo albums, along with some other group contents and even new Run BTS episodes. At the end of the day, when the group come back with a new song, that will be the best part of "waiting" as bts said "the best is yet to come"

He reiterated that they are not on hiatus and are not breaking up but focusing on solo work for a year or two.

Thank you for reacting, Alex. I know it was a big commitment of time and attention, and we appreciate it. To clarify, they said they had already planned to go on tour and then take a break, but because COVID hit, there was no tour. they decided to keep making music even though they felt exhausted.

when I first turned to watch the festa, I jumped to the middle of the video to check something and RM was just saying something about going solo, so I got worried. but after watching it from start to finish, everything made sense, and I'm sure there is stuff behind the scenes that they can't even talk about. so to be honest, I'm not even that bothered with their decision, they do what's good for them. the only thing that sucks is that when they go on tour, all 7 together again, tickets will probably be even harder to get than they are today, so I suspect I will never get to see them in a concert, which sucks for me.

Korean music distribution is handled though a tight market, if you don't get on their distribution or radio air play, you don't get points/percentages. It's fairly hard to break through, even for a popular group. For example: ENHYPEN. Although they are a fairly famous international group, their title tracks don't get high distribution/radio play in Korea, therefore many non-industry/regular Korean people have no clue who they are although they have a large international fanbase. One of their B-sides (Polaroid Love) broke through on Mel0n , which allows the group to chart more of their other songs. This is what RM/J-Hope are talking about with their solo projects - they want their previous solo work (classified as "mixtapes") AND their future solo projects to be accessible through the Korean distributors/markets. It's not a matter of money, it's a matter of accessibility to their Korean fans - international fans already have access through iTunes (Korea does not have iTunes because of Naver). This is not an issue for their BTS music.

I was wondering if you would react to this. I kinda feel like every one who reacts to BTS needs to, to be able to understand that things have changed in Chapter 2 of the Bangtan life. And this is definitely not like waiting for another season lol! Instead of following one BTS, army is now following 7 members! Each on pursuing their own interest and as always army wants to be there for them. Like the Bangtan life just got a whole lot busier lol! Does army have concerns, yes but most of them are about army, not the members. How will army change in ch 2. I guess we will wait and see. In the meantime get ready because J-Hope's first single drops on 7/1! I can't wait to see him at Lollapalozza!

comparing this to waiting between seasons of a tv show feels.. a little disrespectful if I'm being honest. I understand the sentiment you were trying to convey though. when this video dropped on june 14, army weren't upset because of the news, we were upset because it was so difficult seeing people we love open up about just how much they'd been struggling, all while we had no idea. namjoon is incredibly resilient; he's held himself and the team together through literal hell and he's never stepped away from the pressure or responsibilities once. to watch the members break down, specifically to watch namjoon let out that sob... oh man... heartstrings snapped. it's a little difficult to explain unless someone knows the nature of bts and army's relationship with each other. even newer army, or casual listeners don't completely understand that we genuinely see each other as people, as individuals.

I don't think the letter you read at the end is the right letter for this year. I noticed RM wrote "7 years" in the letter that you read, but this year is their 9th year anniversary. In his most recent letter, RM talked about the controversial news that the media mainly just focused on "BTS hiatus" to gain more attention from the public. They ignored or purposely left out the details of what each member had shared in the video. RM even said that he questioned himself as to whether he should have or should've not shown his vulnerability to the world. He cried and showed us his sincerity that he believed only true fans would understand. Other people just heard the news and automatically criticized the members' decisions.

I don’t think many people are aware that Korean groups do not disband ever. Unless they have a huge scandal or there company goes bankrupt they don’t disband. They take breaks and work individually but then come back together. Bts will be bts again and when that day comes it will be even more of a movie than the first chapter of Bts.

There is so many bands in korean and even making to 100 day mark is hard, and there is this 7 year curse where tons of group disband because the contract is 7 years and many groups dont renew because of the company if the company think they dont make enough profit, or the members want to go to separate ways. Here is just a dew groups that disband: Wonder Girls, Stellar, Sistar, Rainbow,Alice White,API, Apple.B,APRIL,APRIL KIS, ATT, Bella, Black Bunny, Black Pearl,Girl Hood, GeeGu, ICIA,Switch berry,Sunny Days, Wegirls, WhiteDay,E7, Challenger (and this is just a few. There is hundreds of groups disband literally hundreds just look it up) but I agree bts will come back im not worried at all
