Good demo. But always remember to mention what type of camera you are using. As someone with a Crop Sensor body the Nifty Fifty is gonna be a 75mm Tele. The results totally different.

Thanks, Brandon! I like the look of 50mm but in most situations I filmed with the RF50/1.2 I was not 100% happy because it was not wide enough for the environment I wanted to capture. It was too much focused on the character. I have switched to the Sigma Art 40/1.4 and with the Canon 100 Macro and the RF15-35 my setup is complete. For me, the 40mm look is perfect for videography. Regarding the filters, have you ever tried Breakthrough Photography filters? I think there are no better filters on the market! Keep up the great work and once again thanks for your videos!
@BrandonLiUnscripted

I think a lot of filmmakers would agree that 40mm or 35mm are more practical for filmmaking because they're a bit wider and more forgiving. I haven't tried Breakthrough but I think their magnetic filters aren't available yet.

I find it interesting that some filmmakers highly recommend buying such lenses as the 24mm, 35mm, 85mm or 105mm than the 50mm lens. If they can afford those lenses, fine. I can't and won't buy them.

I struggle the most figuring out what aperture value to use when filming multiple subjects at once. Like my wife and newborn, one always ends up out of focus and since it's always on the fly I tend to error to closing it down more then a probably need. Of course I would use focus peaking but it's not available in autofocus. Guess I should just shoot wide open and change focus between to two as I intend to lead the eye.
@BrandonLiUnscripted
@BrandonLiUnscripted Жыл бұрын
Yeah you need to place your subjects in the same plane of focus, or go to a narrower aperture or wider focal length.

Hey Brandon, was wondering if I purchase the wolverine 1,5-9 stops (coming soon as I see available for preorder) vs to get 1,5-5 and 6-9 filters, if money is not a problem, does the 1,5-9 produce the same quality, or there is a "price" you pay by getting just one filter vs 2..I mean there has to be at least a disantvantage like X shadow or something? Thanks

In a perfect world there would be no color shift, but all variable nds have some. Just depends on if you think it affects the footage negatively. I don’t mind the slight warm shift and don’t even notice it in real world footage

How about a Video Maker's tips... We are beyond using film, yet you keep injecting the wrong term. We are Digital. We make movies, if you like, moving pictures. You are too young to have enjoyed nothing but film like Kodachrome and the abundance of FILM at stores and Kodak everywhere. I miss Kodachrome. But my Sony cameras are giving me rich colorful images much like Kodachrome. Today, I am digital, DIGITAL.
