Dr. Salim Ali contribution to protect and preserve these small & lovely creatures is unprecedented and unparalleled. A great man with great thoughts. Now our mornings are not very energetic and beautiful because very few birds are left to chirp. Very difficult for them to survive and thrive in our concrete jungle.

They seem to have adapted quite well to me. I see red-tailed hawks and scissor-tailed flycatchers roosting right on top of cell phone and electrical towers and grids, and seem to be thriving. Life seems to have a tenacity and capacity to adapt unlike any other.

I'm Aussie and a man at work (who is originally from Pune) told me about Dr Salim Ali because he knows I love birds. Great documentary of a great man. Things have changed a lot since 1974 in India I suspect.... I wonder how many of these birds are left? :(

Each of the bird Sanctuaries visited by Salim Ali, especially Bharatpur is a secure breeding spot for birds. His efforts towards preserving a habitat should be appreciated. Many sanctuaries today are in need of revenue, protection and professional help from Naturalists, conversationalists and species studies for census in India. The governmental schemes for providing finance are there in the government it is for these scientists to submit their opinions towards boundary protections , watch towers, safe access for birders and maintenance of water levels in the parks to attract birds back to their feeding and breeding grounds.
