I love how there's a meta sub-narrative here about the channels too. "The passing of the torch and knowledge", "making him into a real boy", "the fears of parenting", "in order to move on he has to bury the puppets of his past ", etc... It doesn't take much theorizing to see that Matt is trying to ease the fears of this huge transition for us. I've noticed a similar narrative in the last string of theories across the channels. And all of these final theories have most definitely been chosen for a reason, (I'm sure there'll be a few in there he wants to do just simply because HE has always wanted to (I'm REALLY excited for these btw) and I feel as his magnum opus there's a greater underlying story to these final 10. Keep both sets of eyes open and every fold in your gray matter sharp boys and girls cause he's leaving us with a super heart-felt and touching final message hidden in the cracks of these final few. I swear, he's a true thinker on every level. Gonna miss you so much MatPat! Much love and respect brother.

I loved the explanation and style of the film theory videos I watched, so I looked into other episodes and Game Theory as well. Reminds me of an old comparison of Scott Cawthon vs Yander dev. I was so excited to watch the first salad fingers theory all those years ago-I really never expected my kid to be the one to tell me the last one just posted. I waited a bit to watch to try to savor it?Now that my son is older he’s become an avid game theory fan. Matpat retiring sparked a conversation about change and moving forward that we both needed to have and it’s honestly crazy to me that a KZbinr I started watching while I was working graveyard several years back gave us that moment, I’m grateful for it and all the theories, of course.

Art is an expression of self. No matter how random or high David Firth was in making the series, it all meant something, whether he realized it or not. Game Theory is merely providing their interpretation of it based on their own knowledge, research, and experience. This is what I believe: if someone is going to share some art they made with cryptic, purposely unclear meaning and people misinterpret that art, then the fault falls on the creator, not the interpreters.

Thank you for covering this again! I think part of Salad sticking with Boy Fingers was also the family resemblance and not just Salad maturing. Isn't there a lot of biological study that shows visible similarity to parents (at least as a young child) helps to keep a parent supportive until a child can support themself? That may have also led to the other children being abandoned. But that's just my additional theory. Looking forward to the remaining months and seeing more of what's to come!
