A fun theory I have actually for around 5:01 is that if you do entirely seal off the entire walls, you could use those horse/cart pullup system to go down/up the walls. So you can still do the expedition and reclaim land while also being entirely safe. :D

To be fair, his theory would still hold up if we assume that the titans would never break into more of the walls. But then we all know that it's not possible. Season 2 casually debunks this whole theory in its first episode cause we learn that even though titans cannot break the walls Zeke could still climb and turn Eldians into fresh pure titans from inside the walls practically for free.

Where would they need to go? they got no sense of direction and have no clues where the titans came from (i only saw the anime so i dont kow of theres some killerswitch or super effective counterattacks against them in tha manga). So where ould they need to tunnel too? besides they have to dig pretty deep so taht the tunnels dont collaps under the wieght of the collosal titatn which would probably walk over those tunnels at some point.
