Love your channel, great energy makes it more fun to watch! Can you do a lesson on detailing in a drafting view, focusing on line weights? 🙏🙏🙏
@miketaylor-fantastic3 жыл бұрын
Thanks James! Yes, I will make a Detailing video focusing on lineweights. Also, go watch my video named: Detailing in Revit: 3 Step Process. It may help also.

Filters are powerful that's true. I wish side to the hide object of filter to have also an isolate option. now you need to make different filters to hide, override or isolate objects. And the isolate is more tricky.

Mike, how do you change the color/material of a specific element in a Family? For example, in elevation I want to select the frame of a window and change it's color without changing the glazing color. In the filters, I can see the window selection but I don't see an option for sub-materials.

Can you use filters to hide a plan region view? Example - plan view of 1st floor has a canopy that is only visible by plan region. Would like to turn off the view when not needed.
@miketaylor-fantastic5 ай бұрын
I don't believe you can control Plan Regions with the filters... you may need to make another identical view without the plan region. :)

Hi, is this function availible on Revit LT 2015? to show different walls in different colors?
@miketaylor-fantastic4 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, no. Revit LT lacks the ability to apply filters to a view. But I have see people create filters in the full Revit version and save them in a View Template.... Then when the person with Revit LT opens the file... the filters hold. It's a workaround, but can get around the issue in Revit LT. Sorry... it's one of the limitations of LT.
@miketaylor-fantastic4 жыл бұрын
BUT..... There is a different way to make the different walls a different color.... without filters. You can set the wall TYPE to display any color you want when you put the view in COURSE level of detail. The setting is in the TYPE PROPERTIES, in a group called Graphics. Set the Fill Pattern to 'Solid Fill' and the Fill Color to 'whatever color you want'... then your view needs to be in COURSE Level of Detail. =) I hope that helps.

Thank you Sir! That works.

Hello Mike. I have a Linked model in my project. And want to turn off specific items (families). Is this possible.
@miketaylor-fantastic2 жыл бұрын
If you only have a few items to turn off.. you can hover over them, use Tab to select them, and then right-click to ‘hide them in view’ (by element). Works even for Linked files.
