Easy fix the devs could do is have the engine at the start work similar to the lobby X amount of coal locked in the engine that has to be used I dont know why they have each person start with 1 coal It just means the ship makes it a huge distance from the getgo depending on your lobby settings

The next game Kaif managed to get to dry land from the ship's starting point, so theoretically it could be possible to get back from land to the ship at the start. Gonna need to warm yourself up first though because you'll be freezing from swimming.

We definitely knew it was going to be A Thing, but ultimately it's not really a fun strategy for folks to do repeatedly, since it inevitably just causes a waste of a Thrall game. Most of our community straight up reject messing with the starting coal given how unsportsmanlike it is and how it's basically viewed as a universal waste of time. ^^ (Of course if a crewmate does it, it's an actionable offense since that'd be griefing. ^^;;)

I've seen other thralls do this and lose the game. It just really depends on how organized the crewmates are and how good the remaining thrall is. It's not a game breaker for every group, but considering how disorganized Salt Raiders generally tends to be, this would be a problem.

@@Kaiff oh yeah, it's definitely a HUGE debilitation at the start, and it honestly probably needs to be fixed (though if everyone understands it's a tactic and plays guardsmen for the boiler then I guess it's avoided, and what else are you going to do while you wait for the ship to hit the shore.) It is survivable if you're quick and competent though, and if the other thrall is not careful. They could fix it by having the boat start closer so the distance is more easily swimmable (I believe they upped the amount the cold water hurts you, so I doubt they would want to reduce that again) and then slightly reducing how much distance each coal gives by a slight amount relative to the distance gained Oh yeah, I should have probably clarified the level of organization required. It's not the level of organized a bunch of people who just play games together would have. It requires the level of organization that a team that successfully runs weekly difficult raids in a game like WoW or Destiny 2 would have. At least that's my guess. I know you guys have done that at some point, but I don't think you're generally playing with all of those people and that mindset when you load up a game like Dread Hunger lol.
