NEW WORLD RECORD 🚨🚨 | Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay | 16th FINA World Swimming Championships 2022

We have a new World Record ⏱ !! Italy broke the Men’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay at the 16th FINA World Swimming Championships (25m) 2022.
The team of Alessandro Miressi (46.15), Paolo Conte Bonin (45.93), Leonardo Deplano (45.54), and Thomas Ceccon (45.13) swam a fantastic time of 3:02.75, lowering the Americans’ mark of 3:03.03 from this meet in 2018.

Italy will probably win also the 4x100 medley relay on Sunday. Ceccon, Martinenghi, Rivolta and Miressi are world class swimmers. I wouldn't be surprised if they hit the third WR in this championship.

I'll tell you what's hard to believe: This record's elapsed time is now more than 20 seconds faster than the 1972 Mark Spitz/American team --- which defeated the rest of the world by a wide margin --- at the Olympic games in Munich, Germany.

Miressi didn't swim well, this Italy can easily go 0.5 to 1 second faster.

@@thanos3699 He could have swum in 47'4 and the record would have been broken anyway. But Miressi's first leg was about 0.6 slower than his individual race.

Another record to fall in a 25m pool. It's pretty obvious breaking a world record in a 25m pool is very different than in a 50m pool. The push off advantage clearly is greater than the disadvantage of having to hit a wall and turn around.
