"No defense played" for some of these shots sure, but some of these are just preposterous shot-making and jump shooting no matter the defense. Buddy Hield is the 5th leading scorer on the Pacers at 11 PPG and he's a better shot maker/jump shooter than like ... 90% of the NBA from the late 1990s/early 2000s? 10% of 450 players is 45, I can't name 45 players from any given season 20 years ago that can shoot with Buddy Hield. And he's not even having a good season this year by his standard! With jump shots, if they don't allow touching a jump shooter which they used to allow prior to the shot but never during the shot, there's nothing to do except put your hand up and hope the guy misses.

Haliburton’s whole thing is that he doesn’t get “style points” for degree of difficulty because he generally doesn’t make the difficult passes. His fans (which I am one of) would argue that the difficult pass is almost by definition a risky pass, and he simply makes the smarter plays.
