I kinda hope Ogier does win the championship, so the organisers wake up and realise how disastrous this points system is. No part-timer should ever be able to do that.
@BlueSkyCrystals

Or at least change the rules so part-timers have to be nominated by teams before the year starts, then have them always sweep the roads on gravel rallies or run last on tarmac so the full-timers always get the better conditions.
@williamlasl
@williamlasl Ай бұрын
@@BlueSkyCrystalsThat will just encourage teams to play even more games with part-time drivers. Teams with a driver leading the championship will hire part-time drivers just so they can sweep the road. The system of championship leader sweeping the road has been in place for quite a few years now. Ogier and Rovanpera both won while sweeping the road. I don’t see why more rules need to change because Neuville can’t handle it.
@BlueSkyCrystals

I must have said more than 100 times if Ogier fully participated he would have already won the championship by a huge margin, all those mediocre drivers cannot compete with him, not only because they are slower than him (sometimes they are not due to Ogier's age) but simply they can't stand the pressure and always crash their cars.

Ogier outscored Neuville only by 1 point. I think it's totally wrong, especially the fact that you award points for Sunday and then for the final stage, which also counts for the Sunday points. So the same stage is counted twice for points. Power stage accounted for 21% of the Sunday mileage.

Most uncompetitive year ever. The championship leader is only 1 DNF away from a retired part-time 40 yo. 5th place being 8 minutes out. I remember the 2015 days where mere seconds separates the 10 top drivers. I wonder what happened, it seems like Rovanpera is the only one that caught up to Ogier's speed while everyone else went backwards.
@tominatorxx
@tominatorxx Ай бұрын
Well to be fair to Neuville and Evans, they have had to deal with terrible road positions in every gravel rally (due to their positions in the overall standings). That makes it incredibly hard to match the pace of the other drivers behind them (who have cleaner and more grippy roads). And it's especially hard when the people benefiting from that road position are part-timers with names like Rovanperä and Ogier. I mean catching drivers like Katsuta, Munster, Formeaux , etc. is usually something they are able to do. But catching WRC champions with a serious disadvantage like that, is asking a lot. In most rallies they would be up there in terms of pace, if conditions were very similar I think. As for the other drivers in the championship... I can't really come up with any reasons as to why their pace is not good enough.They usually have decent road positions and all 3 brands have a pretty competitive car, so they should be a lot closer. Basically we are in that strange situation where the 2 fastest full season drivers have to deal with a disadvantageous road position and the 2 other fastest drivers this season are part-timers with a better road position. Resulting in the 2 full season drivers taking points in every rally (or most of them), and 2 part-timers not taking points in every rally, but taking more points in the rally they do participate in, because they make good use of that road position advantage. And the others are just not bringing the pace (or at least not consistently enough).

Can anyone explain to me how it is fair or how it makes sense that you lose your Saturday points if you crash on Sunday?? I thought the splitting of the points across the days was to encourage more racing on the Sunday? If anything the drivers have more to lose now and are going to cruise on Sundays to protect their Saturday points.

@@MetalMJ well that is why they call them Sunday points. And that is OK. Only problem is that winner is not awarded more points. I think they should remove wolf power stage points and give the winner aside from Saturday and Sunday points additional 5 points. Power stage points are unnecessary now that we have super sunday.
@MetalMJ
@MetalMJ Ай бұрын
@@markosajn5776 I understand what you're saying, the points system is just illogical to me. If you can crash on Saturday and still earn Sunday points why can't you crash on Sunday and still earn Saturday points? Ogier got full points for "leading" on Saturday, even though he wasn't leading Rovanpera was??? Yeah the Sunday points have rendered power stage a little irrelevant
@williamlasl
@williamlasl Ай бұрын
It’s not a good system. Hopefully FIA will change it before 2025. Maybe they can just award bonus points for stage wins on Sunday. But right now WRC posts these complicated point charts that still don’t tell you who won or who was on the podium. Hard to draw in new fans when nothing makes sense…
