The highway scene is amazing in so many ways but even more so because of how they achieved it. It took them like two weeks to film that entire sequence, it was taking them so long to get things right that eventually the sap seeped from the logs due to gravity and hardened, glueing them together, so when they would try to release the logs or even explode them out of the truck they would not budge at all, so Joe Bauer, their VFX supervisor, basically told them to film the truck with the back completely empty and that they would take care of the rest in post, and they did because aside from the logs already laying still on the ground and the one going through the cop car every single one of the other moving ones were done completely with computer graphics.

The ending sequence of this movie was always a little confusing with the rules, but I think this is how it went: Clear and Eugene die, and Burke is up next. Kim saves Burke by dropping him to the ground and dodging that flying cart, skipping him. Now Kim is up next, and she purposefully dies in a way she can come back from by drowning and having Burke save her immediately. Therefore, she died and came back to life, which fulfills the whole "new life" thing. Unless you go by the FD3 special features, which says they both fell into a wood chipper a while later haha. But that's a special feature, not an actual scene so I don't count it.

Log truck designs were actually changed after this film. Verticle ateel beams now run down the sides of the trucks at inþervals along with the chains to help hold the logs in place.

I saw this movie way back when it first came out, but remembered absolutely nothing about it. I then watched it again about 6 or 7 months ago, and I realized that I recognized the girl playing the main character, Kimberly, but for the life of me, I couldn't figure out where I recognized her from. It wasn't until a couple of days afterward when it just out of the blue hit me that she plays J.J. on Criminal Minds. I think it was her hair color and hair length, as well as her being younger that completely threw me off. 😆

As many times as I've seen this movie, I am just now noticing that all of those people were just bad drivers. Some of the accidents on the highway could have been avoided. You got the woman distracted on her phone, the guy kicking back doing coke, the mom not saying anything to her son about banging the water bottles on the dash, the motorcyclist super speeding like it's a race track, Kimberly so on edge she doesn't even check her mirrors before changing lanes and not having her seatbelt on, and the cop? How did he think it would be a good idea to not have a lid on a cup of coffee that's 300 degrees??? If he had a lid, then he wouldn't have had to look down when it spilled, and he could have swerved to avoid the logs! I'm thinking how have they all managed to not get rocked in an accident before then. Nonetheless, this was the funniest sequel, though.
