Final Destination has always felt so unique as a franchise. There is no Michael Myers. No Ghostface. No Jason. No physical force you have to escape from. You can run from death all you want. But unlike most slasher villains, it will not relent. It will always be looming over your shoulder. And it does not like to be cheated.

Wellllllll this isn’t exactly accurate. You are right that the creator (Jeffrey Reddick) had the plan for it to be an X Files episode and Bob Shaye told him it was a movie in its own right. It was Bob Shaye who brought Glen Morgan and James Wong in. They are the X Files guys. They rewrote the screenplay based on Jeffrey’s original script. But it was not intentional on Bob Shaye’s part. Bob didn’t know Jeffrey had written it for X Files.

Some of his most popular movies are Road Trip, American Pie, Dude, Where's My Car, etc. and fun fact he makes a reappearance in Final Destination 5. He was well known for the time. The black man in the morgue is Tony Todd, the actor famous for the Candyman horror movies from the 1980's; he's character represents Death and some theorize he is actually the spirit of death that is hunting them in the film--that's why he knows so much about them, death's actions, etc. and why he doesn't care about the break-in.

@michaelklaus7 ай бұрын
Can we please point to other works of Kerr Smith like Dawson's Creek or The Fosters. "My Bloody Valentine (3D)" was so idiotic I could never forget it. They obviously put too much development time into the 3D effects. For example in the source material there is a 20 year gap between the mine disaster and the party but in the 3D version the party happens - completely tonedeaf - just 1 year after the disaster. And the reveal is also so convoluted and not thought through in any way... it's maddening.

Your reactions to Tod's death scene was most excellent. 😅lol😂
@wilhelm-z4t7 ай бұрын
On thing I noticed about the film is the frequent references to water. Water is everywhere. Water is commonly a symbol of death, burial and resurrection. Death seems to be personified by water in the film. Seems like it was raining at the airport. There's the water in the bathroom when Tod dies. There's a scene with Alka-Seltzer being dropped into a glass of water. There's the steaming kettle and the water leaking from the cracked mug. Alex almost drowns in shallow water. There's the canoe trip. There's the swimming-pool. It's raining when they're in the car. One of the characters is even named "Clear Rivers." Even the beer they're drinking could be considered water. Likewise, the Vodka, which means "water" in Russian, I believe. "Water, water, everywhere and all the boards did shrink." Also, all those electrical events in the film are analogous to water. Electricity is commonly analogized to water, e.g., electrical current etc. So, electricity = water = The Grim Reaper. It's great to find all this symbolism in a film that's primarily meant to be a good, albeit somewhat gruesome, entertainment, which it is. Of course, there's also the somewhat more obvious 180, John Denver etc. The six months = 180 days, guys! Another thing I saw was the use of German language and references to German filmmakers who were known for some famous, what you might call, horror movies. "Der Tod" is the German word for "death." Tod's the first survivor to die. In real life, if I were him, I wouldn't like that name and would have been very concerned from the get-go after the plane exploded. The character of teacher Murnau is almost certainly a reference to F. W. Murnau, a German director regarded as one of the most influential filmmakers for his work in the silent era. He famously directed "Nosferatu," a film about a vampire. Agent Schreck is a reference to the German actor Max Schreck who played the vampire, Count Orlok, in "Nosferatu." Interestingly, "Schreck" in German means "scare" or "fright." Agent Weine must be named after Robert Weine. He directed "The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari."

49:49 Pay close attention to that sign that as hits Carter as it becomes very important in future installments. And I'm not talking about the 180 reference when the sign is reversed.

So producers said that they literally do brain storms with team, and they literally ask what they think is very normal, that almost everyone has experienced but also easy to make it scary and deadly, and that is how they come up with scripts, like here plane crash. Actually the death by bus that you talked about so much, it was mostly practical and old style camera work, it was one of the hardest one to pull of bc they really wanted to do everything practical. Really any interviews are great to watch, when they talk about proces behind it, it is wow, great job people 👏🏻. For me 2 and 3 are favorite but like some comments said they made most milenials scared of some things, and it is real, I won't say anything, but I will comment when the times comes, but every one that saw this movies then, now always have this movie scenes in head in some situations.... They really prey on human fears...

I agree with you I love Final Destination 3 & FD5 the most but some scenes from FD3 mainly are what scared me for life. Unfortunately I did watch Final Destination 3 when I was a kid which I shouldn’t have but I did 😕. If I’d watch it now I wouldn’t be so scared being as though I’m older.

@@davidlewis6752 yes I also watched them short after they come out, I was teen, I actually had biggest fear of ships bc as kid I watched documentary about Titanic, and I'm mid 30 and I can tell you I was on sea 2 times as on transport on sea.... (I'm ok with lakes and boats). And in docu they were talking what happened and show some underwater things, but in this movies they show more... So no wonder 2 and 3 with how it starts made such inpact.... i never was on "3 movie topic" bc they scared me, I only think that I will fall.

Actually Carter his real name Kerr Smith was a little famous with us 90s teens at this time he was playing on Dawson's Creek. John Denver died in a plane crash.

This franchise straddles the line between comedic over the top deaths and human tragedy and I think that's neat.

Paint thinner? Very Flammable. Had a co-worker set himself on fire once because he picked a place too close to an open container of thinner to take a smoke break.

Hell or High Water is a good movie that I haven’t seen many reactors watch. It’s done by the same writer from Yellowstone and sicario.

"Tod" is also German for 'death' btw...

Der Tod ein Kohlschwarzten rappen. Death rides a coal black steed. Old Gothic proverb.

Is it?Didn't know that.my new thing to learn for the day.
@cloudyh68007 ай бұрын
It is, but the pronunciation is slightly different (you could listen to Google translate if you're interested to learn. Tod -with a capital T- means 'death' and tot means 'dead')@@purepessimist
