Final Destination 3 : Corkscrew vs Devil's Flight

Video comparing the CGI enhanced roller coaster in Final Destination 3 to the real coaster used during filming. The loop seen in the film was CGI and the top section was constucted inside a studio with greenscreen. The Corkscrew was the only roller coaster used.

😁 I'm in nc & during Halloween they'll be playing all these spooky classics. Once they played jaws & haha. I don't think waters the vibe here but I guess that's for the water park folks tho. Now I'm scared bc of what happened to that kid tho. I'm never going on a water slide. I def believe in "freak accidents." But how I feel when I see coasters on yt.... The intimidater has like a hundred loops. It'll make u feel like it's half way through & nope. Off u go on more loops. On vid it's eh. Being high in person def looks different in certain angles of wever recording device. I still remember riding the fury in the front in the dark. That was a straight plunge right into death. Not really but it almost felt like it. It was purty tho. The lights were glittery. Also me: gonna absolutely hate getting out of here!

The real coaster they used only does two corkscrews. The coaster in the movie does a loop, two corkscrews, then another loop, then two more corkscrews then stops upside down in another loop. They went abit over the top.

I did some research, the coaster in FD3 has more than one vertical loop, the Corkscrew coaster in Vancouver, Canada only has the 2 corkscrews. So my conclusion is, in the movie, they used Viper at SFMM.

There was really no need to upload this since it's all on the DVD. Of course, the roller coaster was custom-built, but the camera angles and CGI made it appear as if the ride was bigger, which was excellent. The girl screaming @ 5:26 "OH GOD! WE'RE GONNA FALL OFF!"

George player The camera only damaged the hydraulic pipe, which unlocked the restraints, which in fact killed only Lewis, Julie, Perry, Ian, Erin and Kevin. The other deaths were caused by the derailment of the train which was caused by loose wheels and broken rails and not by the Camera

George player Many viewers believe that Frankie's camera caused Devil's Flight to crash, and are confused as to how the crash still occurred. However, this is not the case; the actually problem was that the hydraulics were already damaged (which is shown when oil leaks under Lewis's seat), and the camera caused it to break, causing the crash. Because Wendy's freak out, and Lewis and Kevin fighting, held up the ride, the hydraulics continued to leak, and by the time the ride started there was no need for the camera.

In order to prevent trains from colliding, roller coasters are divided into "blocks". Each block can only contain 1 train at a time, and has some means of stopping a train at the end of the block. If a train reaches the end of a block and the next block has a train in it, it will stop before entering the occupied block. This system is tested every day before park opening.

Man the guy who made this scene made it as unrealistic as possible! The wheel won't freaking explode if a small camera hits it! It will sure be damaged a bit but the ride would stop of friction! Also with the stupid restraints opening and closing at random, the only way that could happen during the ride is if someone was pressing the manual unlock/ lock under the train that hydraulics press and lock in the station. The only other way is if they snapped off the double/ tri/ quad locks (I don't know what vekoma uses) then the track breaking... WTF That's why people created steel coasters is they didn't have to check the every bolt on the rail like they do on most wooden coasters ("hand built" as they are called) then the wheels... The wheels look small as hell in this scene and have one bolt... On most vekoma coasters, the wheels are fairly large and have 5-8 bolts per wheel. Sorry for complaining.. I just needed to say that!

For those of us that are obsessed with roller coasters, I can tell that they use footage of the first drop and the first turn around MANY times. And they go thru the double corkscrew element at least twice, and the producers had to add a CGI vertical loop since there isn’t one in the ride at all! It’s also funny that the people whose bodies/equipment actually damage the cars and the track end up getting off the ride... so I wonder how it still crashes.

People, in the movie, the actual cause of the accident was the hydraulics rupturing after Lewis's harness is forced down (this took place before the premonition) the camera only causes the hydraulics to be damaged further, causing the ride to crash. While Kevin, Lewis and Ian are fighting after Wendy has her premonition, the hydraulics are still rupturing, so by the time the ride restarts, there was no need for Frankie's camera - the hydraulics were damaged enough by then.

@gojewla I think it was a combonation of the fact that the corkscrew was the only looping coaster in or near vancouver where they were filming, and that the ride was short so that it would not take long to shoot most scenes from one point. Specificaly the lift was almost all of the actual coaster they used for filming with the rest being greenscreen with a spare car.

Quite a few do. Intamin uses hydraulic restraints on most of their coasters. They have 2 hydraulic cylinders per restraint, so that if one failed the other would keep the restraint locked. Every part of a roller coaster is designed to be fail-safe. A failure will either prevent the train from being dispatched, stop the lift and engage all the brakes, or prevent the restraints from unlocking, depending on its nature.

Lmfao, so many problems its painful for me. First off, you're telling me that the harness is pure hydraulically controlled, and the hydraulic lines arent even covered? Second, how retarded would it be to make a ride, with only 1 bolt holding the wheels on? Most rides have 6-8 bolts per wheel lol. Third, it is *literally* impossible for the track to separate on a steel coaster. Next, the fuck was with the camera? Is the track magnetic...? And after the 2 wheels did come off, friction didnt slow it down at all?! Did the ride op not look at his console and use the damn air-brakes?! FFS...

Furthermore, At 16:03 of the actual movie, it can be briefly seen that the tracks are indeed broken, as Wendy claimed. Also, and a 'popping' sound is heard, indicating that a potion of the track has been broken, which caused the wheels on the left side to derail. This ultimately killed Jason, Carrie, and the other 5 victims, who were the only ones on the ride.

@yyz1234567 As stated in the video, Devil's Flight is a mixture of the Corkscrew at Playland and CGI. They did NOT film anything at Magic Mountain. Watch the dvd extras and you will see you are wrong. Secondly, there is no such place as Pacific Playland (only in the movie Zombieland) so there is NO mistakes in my video.
