It has been fun watching the process. Looking forward to your next project 😊

Job well done, it’s really like you got a pay raise when you do it yourself, opposed to over paying some scamming contractor.

I WAS the contractor on this job. I did all the work myself (except for the stucco and the roof repair). I've always used contracting to supplement my creative pursuits. And I only sub-contract when really necessary, because, yes, unfortunately most contractors scam and lie. It's disgraceful, especially if they're working for the elderly. THAT stuff makes me crazy.

I thought it was about time I chimed in. My wife and I are the homeowners of this 1920's cottage. I originally thought it was a tear down, especially with all the rot and irregular floors that was discovered. Chris convinced us otherwise and had a clear vision for the project, so we decided to give it a shot. All I can say is that Chris is a very talented individual and knows how to do everything! His attention to detail and the respect he has for old buildings is only matched by his personal integrity. He completed the project in three months (I thought six was more realistic) and the final result is something we are very proud of. Best of all, Chris has become a good friend. I only have two questions: What should we do with that red-painted stone fireplace, and what will it take to get Chris to take on our house in New England? I guess the fitting thing to say right now is simply a heartfelt THANK YOU! Thank you Mr. Chris Old House 🙂
