Like others have said, what seems best is keeping a separate playlist of the raw gameplay for the people who would want proof (maybe link in description if a grind was done) while keeping the main playlist more streamline and less cluttered. If you feel it maybe include quick montages at the beginning of the videos if there was a grind session before. If its a boss you are having trouble with, maybe show all the last hits that cause a game over, if its a drop maybe show the last hit into the loot screen. If you incorporate some good sound effects or music then the montage could help hook people in right away (I am thinking Homer Simpson like Doh's then a mmmm or something if you get the drop for example.) It would help main series viewers get an idea of the crazy grind without scaring them away from what should be the bigger view magnet (commentated series vs entire raw run) it might even motivate them to go see the raw themselves. Keep up the good work!

If I remember correctly, the character that deals the final blow on an enemy has an increased chance of getting the drop. Could be misremembering, but I think I used that when farming Dark Yojimbo for ribbon at some point.

All the grinding should stay in. It's literally part of this what makes this challenge what it is. Most people can't handle it. As far as raw footage, different playlist linked in the description is probably the best path for that, with the main videos having time skips where you show the steps for the grind, then just "10 hours later...," reward you were after.

Project Unlimited X has a game speed booster that increases cutscene speed to a max of 16x. Also has AP for the full party decreasing the need to farm for challenge runs as a quality of life enchancment.

For your gear grinds, with the way FFX's rng works you have a high chance of getting a piece of gear for a specific character if they get the finishing blow. Obviously isn't always the case but it does have an effect that speedrunners have routed into some fights like making sure to kill Oblitzerator with Tidus for the extra percentage toward a Lightning Steel.

If it's not too much trouble, i think uploading just maybe the full raw footage separately as "proof" would be good while, keeping these shorter edited versions would keep it more watchable for those who are just watching and aren't disputing the validity of the run

You should DEFINITELY include all the grinding. If you complete the challenge successfully you'll need a record of everything so people aren't accusing you of cheating. IDK how you would want to include it, if it's just speeding it up x 30, or keeping it all saved separately and then uploading the entire thing with all the grinding included later. But if you're going to make a real attempt at this you NEED to have proof it's a legitimate run.

I remember when i played that game for the first time i didn't understand how grid system works so ignored it until Moonflow. And i actually stuck at Rikku's boss fight. I also didn't use overdrives that much, maybe on bosses sometimes (just to get an overkill), and i didn't know you could escape from fights. So yeah, i accidentally made my first playthrough a challenge, but i decided not to torture myself any further, and when i realized how exactly sphere grid actually works - i restarted the game and played it like a normal person. Yeah, technically i could've continued from the Moonflow, but i had no ability spheres to progress the sphere grid and didn't know what enemies drop them, so i couldn't grind properly and decided to restart bc i thought i'll pay more attention to drops next time around and grind if needed. And no, my version of the game didn't have an "extract" abilities on the sphere grid, and there're no "distill" weapons either (it was also a version without dark aeons). Still a fun memory but i wouldn't repeat it, bc god knows how exactly i managed to get that far without any knowledge of the game 😂 Think about every time i get one-shoted by "dual horn" enemy on Mi'ihen Highway upon each of my revisiting the game.

It seems like the general consensus is to keep the grinding, and I agree, but I also think it would be reasonable to speed up those sections of the video with voice over to summarize anything notable that happened during that time. That way the record is kept and uploaded, but it will reduce the total number of videos by a good amount.

As for Uploads for Grinding vs. Not Grinding.... I have a suggestion. Essentially, you upload the series WITHOUT the grinding, but you save the grinding footage. (For posterities sake) and upload that to a separate series, that is purely the grinding footage. And you have before/after pages showing the grind-progress. (We had X gil before the grind, now we have Y for example) this is done purely as a 'proof' so no one can accuse you of 'cutting the grinding out, and then just cheating it in, because if you're going for a challenge that hasn't ever really been done before, you KNOW people are gonna accuse you of it. I mean *I* trust you, (I've seen the raws... I know, lol!) But I think we all know what the internet can be like. But essentially, this way you have a compact viewer-friendly series, and you ALSO have the 'full' series uploaded.

As a lot of the other comments say, you’re damned if you do and damned if you don’t regarding the grinding. If you don’t show it all then you’ll get people saying “how do we know he didn’t use summons and spells whilst grinding for items” but if you do post the grinding then you’ll make so much more work for yourself in terms of making, editing and voicing videos

Used to watch someone who had sped up his grinding montages, they were usually at the beginning of the video. Like 16 speed or whatever, but if some1 really wanted to, they could slow down and check for authenticity sake

You could do what i see others do: Main series no grinding but upload the raws on the side so the main series has a nice flow but the doubters cant call you out for lying. You could also keep funny moments in the main series from the grinding bits just so those who dont watch the raw footage can see your struggle as lost of sanity :3. Just a thought tho

I think for when you need to grind a drop, showing the fight the first time and then cutting out up to the fight where you get the drop is the best way to go. I for one wouldn't even begrudge just giving yourself the item after the fact just to cut down on the tedium though I know some would say that's "part of the challenge".

But if you do that it's not an acceptable completed run. Just because you can do it once doesn't mean you did it 100 more times. You have to keep footage of everything, it's up to the person on how they want to include it. Maybe uploading it later, separately in another video, speeding it up or whatever, but it has to be documented.

For my two cents, i would be very interested in watching the grind. Especially so if it's not extra work (like, you're not commentating in post so won't have extra work to do there I hope) As others have said however, a separate playlist could work, but that WOULD probably require more work, so i think keeping all in. Maybe indicate in the title of the vid whether it's a grind video or advancement vid?

@Primalliquid92 another tip Rikku is your MVP when you get her back track to besade and steal everything especially petrify grenades those will get you through macalina but I can't stress to you enough to farm minimum 40 poison fangs before Seymour because you can't survive oblivion

Make 2 Playlist, 1 is the cuts without as much grinding, each video is narrated. The second Playlist is all of the content including the grinding mid suggest not narrating all of the grinding if you don't want to). Hopefully this keeps the effort low, but accomplishes multiple goals.
