You know with our phone capabilities at this point I'm kind of surprised video game companies haven't made more ports of video games to mobile because we can just hook up a controller to our phone. They're kind of dumb

Only company I can think of doing this is ubisoft with AC mirage and another game recently iirc. I remember being shocked when I saw mirage on the app store, and it not being a streamed game, but actual on the device game.

it's not dumb at all actually. It has to do with the monetization scheme. People who play on mobile are either super casuals or gatcha whales. Either way a $20 single player game would not attract them. As unfortunante as it is, the mobile market is now dominated by "free to play" gatcha and games monetized by predatory monetization schemes (e.g. energy system). They realized that people who play on mobile aren't "gamers" at all, they just like gambling and pretty anime girls. And I don't blame them. For actual "gamers," why would they ever play on mobile when they have perfectly functioning PCs or consoles?

Because it doesn't sell. Mobile gamers don't want to buy games, they want microtransations filled Free To play games. And putting MTX in already existing games will cause backlash. So yeah it just makes more sense for an MMO that can be F2P because they already have MTX with cosmetics and Expansions.

I dont see the reason for FFxiv classic. The game is largely intact isn't? The point of Wow classic was that most of the original game had been removed and changed.

@@saltyhyperbeast just to be able to prog through raid tiers as they come out really i suppose but thats what this mobile game basically is, it doesnt have anything but a realm reborn. So its essentially ffxiv classic which i dont see a need for either.

I would like to point out that Mobile is NOT A Realm Reborn (aka 2.0) but rather the ORIGINAL game (aka 1.0). This is based on wording they use and the trailer being based on the 1.0 trailers and benchmark.

I don't think it is 1.0 as during the trailer, scholar is there, scholar was added in 2.0.

It's ARR, the same story as the one on PC but with the new voice actors.

It's arr, it using additional WoL's who are present in ARR job art. Monk didn't exist yet in 1.0
