While this is a very viable controller setup (and my first setup was similar), I've realised it's not very movement friendly. I had to change the positions of my spells to the dpad and insta-casts to the other buttons. This allows me to seamlessly cast motifs outside of battle while moving, and to use my insta-casts when movement is required. Better for me, personally.

I'm loving Picto and especially on the controller it's great. It's so much cleaner with less clutter, I only need the main bar and the two double tap bars. Put the 2 normal spells and inverse on the right ABXY. Hammer, Mog of Ages, holy, and meteor on right dpad. Put the motiffs on left ABXY, Muses on left d pad. Everything is perfect. Double tap right has my smudge, subtractive, and tempura on ABXY and rainbow drip and star prism with the d pad. Double tap left has the normal class stuff like addle, sleep, Swiftcast, lucid dreamign, and sure cast. Limited break as well.

That’s just a hotbar that’s shared with the gearsets dragged onto it.

I never used controller before but i gave it a chance after this video and it's acually very comfortable to play that way. It's easy to get the spells and i don't have to stretch my hand to reach keys. Thanks for the video.

Very helpful video, but i dont understand why you put so much instant spells on the d-pad / casting spells on action buttons. Since you cant move while clicking on casting spells (except under swiftcast ofc) wouldnt be easier to put them on d-pad instead? Will not require to claw for movement phases. Anyway good job

Yes, I thought this also. I had to change my controller setup because it was not movement friendly. Now I can freely cast my motifs outside of battle and oGCDs without stopping, much easier.

Are you gonna be updating your controller guides for all the previous jobs to accommodate for the new skills each job gained?

I haven’t decided yet. I think a big part of what really frustrated me about the game was the feeling of pressure to deliver the guides fast. I wanted to get the new jobs out there for players as quickly as possible, but am going to level at a more relaxed pace this time around. Plus I’m still focused on my health and losing the rest of this weight. Down 75 pounds and hoping to lose another 35 to 40

@@gingerlovesmmos first of all, congrats on loosing 75 pounds, that's one hell of an achievement so no doubt you could hit another 35 or so pounds! secondly, that's a very fair comment, take your time and enjoy the game for sure. Maybe a written guide rather than a full video breakdown would be an easier alternative but regardless, appreciate all the hard work you put in for the FFXIV community.

Having an odd bug with my Xbox Elite Series 2 - my left joystick has a weird hitch and character begins to walk. Gone through two controllers with the same issue. Could it be a dead zone issue?

Just unlocked picto and was so confused with all abilities. Hopefully SE makes setting up bars easier on console. Macros are one but copy & paste is so much more difficult on console. So, I try to set them set up by watching video which is really annoying because you get distracted all the time and when you finally get to it you go through it faster than light which forces me to bang my head to wall trying to find expanded part. While I'm watching this on phone I have game running on OLED TV which means I have to keep spinning camera around while having UI disabled because I don't want static image be on screen too long.

They really need to make the xivcombo addon just be in the game at this point or at the very least make combos transition between the skills with 1 button. I dont know how people are playing half the jobs with a controller.
