I feel like this video glosses over a lot of pivotal points within the story, however I hardly someone could make a 10min video that covers everything without missing a lot. Each expansion has a minimum 10hours of cutscenes, so when you consider how much one has to compress, it’s going have a lot cut out. I believe there’s more than enough room to improve the summary, however it’s possibly extremely challenging. I don’t believe I could create a summary like this one without making a 1000 revisions, as I would become unhappy with everything I leave out. Many good moments that are hard to overlook.

If you only do the MSQ, you get about 45% of the total plots and understanding the story. XIV story technically isn’t started in ARR but 1.0. The reason ARR is long and feel like a tutorial because it tried to introduce you to the game first before the storytelling begin. This recap is going to make EW a big time harder to explain because they’re using all the previous expansions stuff and adding extra materials the general amount of questions ppl have.

There was absolutely no reason to spoil the death of a certain beloved character in Heavensward. That point carries no significance to the story other than to solidify your reason to do what you do, which you were going to do anyway... even if they didn't die. It's an emotional moment and definitely shouldn't have been mentioned even if the purpose of the video is to "Recap the story". Emotional moments like that are what keep people playing and what make people determined to play until the end. That's sacred ground man...

You can always play the free trial! It has an enormous amount of content, including the base game and the first expansion (which is one of the best parts of the game). That's tens of hours of content right there, maybe even more with no need to pay. It's really greaf

I played for free for the first 150 hours and I mainly followed the main story quests and dungeons with some important side quests.. would totally recommend playing the free version it basically doesn't take away anything from you until you reach lvl 60 (and that will take a very long time for a new player)

This was good just to get a gist. I absolutely love this game but don't know much if anything about the story because it's so long. I wanted to get to the end-game content. So midway through heavensward I gave up on watching cutscenes and reading the quest dialogue. And I started to watch the "Unending Journey" but that's become tedious as well. I really wanna learn the story because I hear it's really good. But I don't have the motivation to sit and read through all that.

This means hundreds of story quests + dungeons + cut scenes you have to go through first. You will just make it even worse for yourself then because not only are you then not interested in what you are doing but you also already know what you are doing. Makes it very unlikely you will be able to grind through it

No. This is a remake of FF11. In the lore Bahamut basically fucks that world up and you get sent to this one "a realm reborn." Outside of a few outliers the main FF games (1, 2, 3, etc, are all stand alone games)

This is not even conmected to 11 and majority of people have no idea how this story started because it started in 1.0. After Bahamut destroyed the world it was reborn by Phoenix. Which 1.0 story still exists and is still vital to understand the warrior of darkness and their actual plight. As 1.0 players get extra text as we were there. The new 2.0 and beyond have no such story to know what these people went through. I'm not spoiling either so I am not going into deeper detail.

Idk. Yeah the story was great in heavenward and the latest expansion was decent. But I can't ever play again because of the insane queue times to group up, boring ass leveling, and horrendous amounts of dreadful dialogue cutscenes. I can't understand how people can enjoy it. Only part I really enjoyed was the raiding and combat. But there is literally nothing else for me to do while between raids. The rep grinds are boring AF when you could simply queue for dungeons. Dungeons. Dungeons. Just repeat the dungeons.

FFXIV is the best MMO imo. Actually, is the only mmo i ever played (Tried Tera as well, didn't liked it except the char creation) So, i gotta say that 14 TOUCHES me enough to choose him as something that really worths your effort. I did Primals and Savage Raids by Pugging, with random ppl (and Xeno's guide) co-oping till we're able to farm for everything in the game. So, the community is VERY friendly, i assure you all =Dv I stopped to play since SB started, because i only have ARR and Heavensward way before HW becoming free... and tbh? I plan to get back to action, SHB OST is calling me back ;x

What this gives you is an overall global narrative of the game. And for that reason, I am so glad that I never bothered to invest any considerable amount of time in this. I'm still bemused as to why a video game developer cannot actually hire a real author. Instead, they have to get their code monkeys write plotlines like a bunch of 13 year old D&D players.
