The end is here... It's finally here. After 10+ Episodes of this series, the finale has arrived. I just wanted to take a moment and say thank you, seriously, THANK YOU to each & every one of you that watched these videos the past couple of months! I've been on KZbin since 2009, and to be honest with you I've never done a full playthrough like this uploaded to the main channel, but you all made this possible. It really encourages me a lot. :') I know we had a bit of a hiatus for a little bit, but still... This series has gotten more views and interaction than I ever expected. It still blows my mind just thinking about it and I genuinely am so grateful. This game I think will always go down as one of my most favorite experiences in gaming history. I stand by that. This whole experience was an energy & vibe that brought so many hours of excitement to our community. If you were there for any stream or any of these videos, I think we can all agree, it's been an absolute ride. Lastly though, I want to give a massive shoutout to my editor Satchel for putting these videos together over the past few months. Thank you man! This playthrough is forever archived in an amazing way because of your help, and I really appreciate it. Also, I want to give a shoutout to my girlfriend Emmie. I AM SO SORRY you had to deal with me screaming constantly in HYPE at the late hours of the night like you did. I DIDN'T EXPECT this game to be this good, but you let me have my moments and for that I thank you, hahaha. Again for one last time, thank you guys! And thank you Square Enix & Creative Business Unit 3 for making an amazing game that goes down as one of my favorites of all time. Truly incredible. And Thus... did our journey end. ❤❤❤

We don’t know what Metia represents exactly and Square hasn’t explained it so we can’t just assume it’s because of Clive. Especially when I think it’s clear he’s alive if you play all the side missions.

I loved watching your playthrough of this, man. Thanks for posting the entire thing, that must've been a ton of work. Out of all the FFXVI reactions on KZbin, yours was by far the best. Also while the hype has died down a bit for now... I think it will come back when the DLC for this drops, as well as the PC version. So hopefully you'll see some more views when that happens. P.S. I agree completely, one of the top 10 video games of all time. Hell, I'd go a stop further and put it in my top five. Much like you, while I love FF7R, this just edges it out for me, largely thanks to the combat, characters, and insane boss battles. That excitement and hype is what video games are all about. Objectivity be damned, video games are about fun.

Clive had the last bit of magic in him and was trying to use it but his hand turned into stone but there’s no other magic or ether in the world to use so he’s still alive. He couldn’t turn to stone even further because of that. Plus, his wanting to keep his brother’s name alive by writing the story (only he alone knows in full) makes sense with the help of Harpokrates.

I know there's many fan theories that Clive could be alive based on hints and symbolism in the game and people have been called out for this with "copium and hopium" but an interview with the story writer from the Ultimania book confirms that aside from magic, bearers etc Clive also ended petrification itself. And another thing that was said is that Jill only thought that PERHAPS her wish wasn't granted when Metia faded (which could also be due to magic fading). So the star did not confirm his death, it was only an assumption by Jill that he might not come back and she lost hope. Same for Torgal cause there was no magic = could not sense him anyway. It was her mental state at the moment with the song lyrics reflecting it until the song stopped and dawn came. So many people misinterpreted the face value of the ending as the one and only definitive outcome while Square themselves comfirmed that as of now its open ended. So technically both camps saying he's clearly dead or alive are not correct... until we get answers, DLC or maybe it stays like that forever.
@thefinalfighter2578

Him dying does not make sense narratively. It’s just the classic hero's sacrifice bs and clashes with the game’s main theme. Unfortunately, a lot of people think Tragic/bittersweet narrative automatically equals good writing. And then we have this pathetic excuse of ambiguity that robs the player of any closure to make sure people talk about the game for a while.

@@thefinalfighter2578 i hate endings that leave shit open. Like give me how it went and be done with it. Or just give me the good ending that makes me feel good. I am not playing video games to be in emotional turmoil for a few days. I just cope by believing clive is alive (more things pointing in thag direction than him being dead). I dont want the heroes death. Its just boring and happens all the time in every form of media. I may be a bit special but i enjoy the happy ever after. Let me indulge in the great feeling of escaping the world

Many of the criticisms of the game were about the side quest and that is understandable, but when Joshua says that the difference between Ultima and Clive is that people have faith in him because he decided to listen and that has made their bonds stronger, It made every side quest worth it.

Best reaction I've seen to the ending moments of this game. You're excitement and raw emotion is exactly how I feel playing Final Fantasy games and I haven't had that feeling since FFX until FFXVI. I feel like they got back to putting story telling first and foremost and built a game around an epic tale. I cried my eyes out... Hoping the DLC will have Jill and friends on a journey to find Leviathan to create a wave to bring Clive back home.

Now, people don't rely on "silly tales", eikons and magic and live normal lives.

I already watched the FF16 2 hour ending and all like 10 times already on different people playing it (and obviously also playing it day 1 myself and ending it after around two weeks) but I have to give a HUGE CREDIT for the chapter structure of your 5,5h stream video that helps IMMENSELY finding the scenes you want to see other people experience and although it may seem contradictory for streamers converting their stuff to a platform like youtube I think that is the ultimate way to go to help people rewatch scenes in a VOD format and suprisingly not many people do that kinda chapterizing for YT.

Also: This game is my GOTY and the whole last fight is the most insane shit I have ever witnessed in any game and I play games across all consoles, generations, be it off- or online and even storywise when the Eikons clash in the last fight and you hear the voices of your companions cheering on you that felt SO POWERFUL it made me cry and giggle of excitement the same time. Thank you for this walkthrough! I enjoyed the game on the same level as you did and cried like a dog :( I liked your thoughts on the game itself and totally agreed that it will take a special place in people's hearts for quite a while. What a journey! FF16 was my first game and afterwards I played FF7 Remake, Crisis Core, and recently finished FF15. Even after all this, I still think FF16 is one of the best in terms of storytelling and the set of emotions it gives you. If it won't take GOTY, I will be very disappointed. p.s. Regarding the theories on who wrote the book and whether it was all just a story, you should start NG+ and you will discover that in the beginning Clive is the one who narrates it. And Clive wrote the book because he was the only one who knew about wordplay with Final Fantasy (like when "you should be its final witness"). And he is the final witness. He took Joshua's name like he did with Wyvern, Cid, and etc. Just some food for thought.

To me Clive survived at the end, he wrote the book and used Joshua's name to honor him, he already had taken Cid's name, so leads me to think he did it again. I'm pretty sure Joshua died, he said himself Phoenix's flames could heal but not bring back the dead. Ultimately when Clive destroyed Origin, he erased Ultima's Legacy of Dominants, Bearers, mothercrystals and magic, like he was saying at the end. That's why there's no magic or dominants in the post credit scenes. Which means he accomplished his goal. I also think the red star Metia stopped glowing because Jill's Wish of Clive coming back to her on Sunrise was fullfilled, and that's why she smiled when sun rises.

It's cool to see someone else who laughs when there's cool shit. 10/10 game. It might have it's lows (side quests, especially early), but it's highs are so high it is unlike anything else. And banger music the whole way through.

I remember when I got the ending I was crying in tears and just could not find the words but eventually my tears went down a little this game storytelling is amazing I am still surprised Ben Starr did not win best performance every boss fight was so crafted and amazing if I could go back in time, and we experience it again, for first time I would we know dlc is set before the final boss. And Clive fate is ambiguous 😭😭 I was so emotional in that fight espically the ending I would give if a 10/10 game Truly amazing

The way I see it, and the in game quests and such seem to back this up, is that Clive survived past the ending and wrote his story, just as Harpocrates told him to. We don't actually see Clive die during the ending. He does seem to pass out, yes, but nothing about that says he died. I think that Harpocrates stuff definitely is the biggest hint toward the book actually being written by Clive. I assume he used Joshua's name to honor his brother.

I personally believe that Clive lived, one of the main themes of the game is Clive finding his will to live and uphold his promises to his loved ones, like his promise to Jill that he would return. Plus a ton of the side quests point to him living, such as the harpocrates quest suggesting Clive would become a writer, then Clive narrating the opening and close of the game like he is telling the story (“and thus our journey ends”). Besides, we only saw him lose his non dominant hand after all. I believe he wrote the book in his brothers name to continue his legacy, the same way he took on Cid’s. I think there is confirmed DLC coming now, so hopefully we will see Clive returning with the sunrise like he always does

The lyrics of All As One, the reprise of Find the Flame are great. It calls back to all the Eikons. Both our Allies, and those that we had to fight. Feel the Fire Blazing (Phoenix) Fell the Blizzard Raging (Shiva) Hear the Thunder Roaring (Ramuh) Follow our fateful calling (Clive and Ifrit) Fear not the Tempest Wailing (Garuda) Fear not the Boulders Hailing (Titan) Fear not the Darkness Surging (Odin) Fear not the Brightness Purging (Bahamut)

Kazutoyo Maehiro who wrote the script for the game mentioned in interview that he lift the ending opening to interpretation and will not give an answer if Clive is dead or alive... as for the events of the game they did happened, so you are not playing a character in book, that explanation for the post credit very weak base on the new lore book for FF16 (Ultimania) .. you have 700 pages about the history of the world of FF16, include the backstory of Cid - Dion - Benedikta - Hugo - Barnabas - Mid - Anabella..., i'm not going to spoiler it for you... as for what i think : I'm pretty sure Joshua is dead, here why : 1.when Joshua give Clive the phoenix in the end he said :"this body far gone" ,"i'm proud to call you my shield", "thank you for being my brother, now the world need you" that sound like a long goodbye. 2.when Clive try to heal Joshua after he beat Ultma, you have Clive closing his eyes and remembering the blessing of the phoenix and when Joshua was born, this is Clive coming to term with Joshua death... 3. Clive line after the flashback : "it seems Ultima's power was too great for this vessel all along", i took it that with all Ultima's power he can't bring the dead back... IF JOSHUA IS DEAD then who wrote the book i can think of 3 possibility, let me start with the negative ending : Clive is dead, so that leave Jote and the undying who wrote the book under Joshua name... positive ending : Clive is Alive and he who wrote the book, if you add the side quests near the end : harpocrates give the soles quill to Clive in hope that he write his tale, and the other side quest with Jill where SHE SAID the line : "no matter how terrible the night dawn will always come that you will alwyas come for me clive", Jill line is the end scene : she crying all night after she sees the red star stopped glowing red thinking that clive is dead, but when the sun rise she stops crying and smille, the camra cut to black and clive say "THUS OUR JOURNEY ENDS"... if you play the game end scene in other languages Clive says : "our quest of destroying the mothercrystals is done" instead of "our journey ends", i think that the red star is the mothercrystals.. the last possibility : this is my crazy theory : Jill was pregnant with a child, named him Joshua and he who wrote the book about his father tales and name the book "Final Fantasy" by Joshua Rosfield...

I completely agree. This game has peak moments we've never seen before in games. I have this in my top 5, FF7 Remake is in my top 10, although that might change when all 3 parts come out.

Greetings from Spain, JC. Loved your reaction. What can I say about FFXVI. Characters are amazingly well written and combat system is so damn perfect, best one in the whole saga. Top 3 in my opinion behind FFVII and FFX. It was worth the wait.

I kinda believe that Square Enix did that ambiguous ending on purpose, & let us ponder who was alive at the end. Maybe they'll leave it for their next DLC (if possible), but we play the game again in Joshua's POV, & reveal to us Joshua's journey starting from the phoenix gate, discover what happened to Leviathan, finding about Ultima & the continuation of the main ending, the truth about who wrote the book.

incredible reaction. This game is indeed top 10 in my book. In regard to the end tho, know that Joshua didn't actually wrote the book. Joshua died that night because Clive and Joshua himself said that Phoenix CAN'T revive people and having Utima"s power don't matter since if it was the case Ultima wouldn't fear death and would be able to revive his people without having to do all he did on Valisthea. So Joshua died during that final fight just as you saw Clive just cleanse his body. Dion and Clive too for that matter you saw how they pull that out the 2 of them died that night. The "Joshua Rosfield" on the book is to prove to the player that it wasn't a fairy tale it was a real story since Joshua Rosfield did exist and lived through that adventure. The one who actually wrote the book is Gav since he's the next Cid after Clive thus he carries Cid's will, and Clive wanted to write a book about their adventure after the final battle. So Gav have the duty asthe next Cid to write it at his place, and with Viviane and Harpocrates he have all the event in deck, and for the final fight he know that the 3 chads went to origin, won, destroyed Origin and died there since nobody came back. And that all he need to know he don't need to know the precise event of the final fight (how we the player saw it) since they are just details to from his perspective it won't help him write the important message he want to share to humanity through the book. But yeah don't believe the chat they all died like you initially though. or at least that is the most rationnal and logical outcome.
