Final Fantasy 16 Solo Eikons Combo MAD

Try something different this time, Combo MAD uses only abilities of one Eikon at a time + base moveset. Each with a small enemy juggling combo & back n forth with a larger foe.
Turns out better than I expected. I just got the last eikons so I'm still not used to it. Some eikons like the 4th aren't doing well with Combo MAD, but 1st, 2nd, & 6th is nature for combo. 3rd, 5th, & 7th need a bit more unorthodox play.

This is very impressive! Though I am confused one one thing. As I watch I cannot see any input for Magic Burst. What button do you have magic tied to? I struggle with magic burst weaving a lot and I am trying to get better.

I'm glad you styled on both small enemies and big stagger gauge enemies. People I've seen have been complaining that you can only do combos on tiny goblin mobs that don't fight back with infinite hp.

Agreed. I still think using Garuda on large enemies is fun for dodging and aerial combos and you can use a lot of interesting techniques before and after staggering large enemies.

Initially I thought that combat is very shallow. But the problem is difficulty. It is too easy and it doesn't force you to engage with mechanics. Very later in the game it became more difficult, and I started to pay attention and saw that there is lots of thing going on. It is quite deep actually.

you can get through the entire game just by pressing Square and Dodge. None of the mechanics are forced upon you. It's up to you to take the deep dive into all the mechanics and really engage with the game or not. I found the combat to be very deep from the first moment of the game regardless of difficulty. It was made easy because a lot of players would be engaging with an action game for the first time and we don't want them to be discouraged by the difficulty of the entire game right away so they made the game on the first play through very easy. I'm on my second playthrough and have been enjoying it a lot more than the first playthrough.

And it's perfectly fine to not switch and there's no reason to unless you enjoy what the other eikons bring to the table. That's the beauty of it. Choice. You aren't forced to use any tools but it's all up to you. Like I am running Garuda for her deadly snatch feature when you get an enemy to half their stagger meter. And then titan because I just enjoy the blocking and then bahamut

There are about 6 "top reviewers" on KZbin I used to listen to when it comes to breakdowns on games. I put all of their channels on "do not recommend" after the release of this game because they all said the combat was shallow and simple. FF16 exposed these guys hard.

@@treywiley5294 lol the combo in the video just keep on repeating it sickening You dont have alternative atk combo or heavy attack, the magic button to weave between normal attack or charge and thats it only fuction, other games use it as heavy attack button to massive increase movesets. You dont even have direction input for attack ,cant regain height to keep juggle enemies in air, skill mostly are animation lock etc I can go on, about dragon dogma, im not talking about combo but about timing , precision and the way you play it, its like monster hunter in a way

Well what i got from that is that yes, odin requires a bit more work, but its ABSOLOUTELY comparable to bahamut power. Plus theres the benefit of dark arm being MUCH easier to parry with than default sword.

Odin is surprisingly strong on its own. Of all the Chronlith trials, I found Odin's(Trial by Darkness) to be the easiest. It's just that all the killing power comes from Zantetsuken rather than abilities, so it's centered around rapidly building the meter to level 5 and then dropping their stagger bar through other means. The Rift Slip is a blast to use as well with the slight time slow on it. In those challenges, the time-boosting combos are also easier to pull off with Odin, which isn't relevant to combat performance in game but I still think it's a bonus worth mentioning. Of course the real insanity comes when combining abilities across Eikons. Placing a Lightning Rod right on a staggered enemy and then hitting them with Gigaflare amps the damage on an already powerful ability. Or using wicked wheel into upheaval for the extra damage on the latter when attacking from the air.

So Odin’s normal attack damage is low when using the unsheathe ability cause it is mainly mean for building up the bar? That kind of bums me out but it does make sense that the payoff comes from Zantensuken. Do the abilities deal high will damage at least or have low cooldowns?

All the abilities have fast cooldowns and rift can cancel anything and it’ll come back faster if you do cancel something

I'm pretty sure Zantetsuken is literally the strongest attack in the game, and you can build it up to level 5 almost immediately just using upgraded versions of Heaven's Cloud and Dancing Blade

Odin feats usually have low cooldowns, especially Dancing Steel, which has the fastest cooldown out of all ults. Still, Will damage is low across the board, even with will damage accessory. The whole kit revolves around Zantetsuken, and nothing else.

i find Odin to be a perfect combo ender Eikon with any of it's skills (except rift slip which is it's brand of awesome if used well) and even then the skills have such fast cooldowns you can basically spam even the ultimate, Dancing steel, as by the time it finishes i think the cooldown is like 1/4-1/3rd done anyway (atleast it feels like it) will damage isnt much of a problem at all due to other Eikons specialising in it (hell, Bahamut's Impulse is AMAZING will breaking. infact Bahamut and Odin Eikons work insanely well together full stop really) and Zantetsuken just hits so insanely hard. one shots basically every mob in the game and against bosses can chunk them from health gate to health gate usually (to those who dont know, health gate is whats known as the time when a boss hits a certain health threshold and then suddently takes no to very minor amounts of damage for a cutscene or mechanic to trigger)

i finished the game with phoenix, garuda and titan. as soon as i got odin, abandoned titan and used that as 3rd. you can kill pretty much anything with zentetsuken. spam flames of rebirth, garuda tornado and limit break on normal and you can coast through any bossfight.

Man, I had 2 weeks off work when I bought this game on PS5. I did nothing but smoke joints and play for the ENTIRE day. I spent so much time in the training room and after a while it all clicked. Its crazy how smooth the combos flowed and everything with the d-pad attacks just worked together flawlessly. I have some sicker combos than in this video. Its relatively easy once it clicks and You get that Aha! moment

A combination of the Stomp to jump off enemies in midair for more height, and using Burning Blade [hold and release the attack button] while in midair will turn it into a launcher for you and small enemies.

My main problem with combat, is that unlike dmc, you have spells, instead of combo moves, for me it devalues the interest, I wish there at least were more basic moves, like I would've killed for a air launcher, but you get up with the enemy.
