I was confused at first like “wait WHAT!?” Then this freaky h** headless alien on a cruise ship attacks! Stop and slammed laser attacks BUT….they wrong for not using TIFA/AERITH this is the only time original game that Aerith can battle her even in REMAKE Cloud and the girls were locked for this battle. But yes fuck this bitch in REMAKE/REBIRTH we done fought her ass 9 times now. We still have yet to see JENOVA ABSOLUTE I pray that Nomura/Nobuo Uematsu Goes the DW route for the track You know all 8 (yes 8) of them will be divided up for this

Just got done fighting Jenova dreamweaver in the remake, right now. Holy fuck that was amazing. The music is fantastic and probably the only boss fight that has ever made me shed tears mid fight.

Sephiroth is good villain, but Jenova is the absolute villain of FFVII.

Jenova is essentially braindead throughout the game. It's established that Sephiroth's strong will allows him to take complete control of the remains of Jenova.

His great power stems from her cells, but having a strong will has nothing to do with it, otherwise there wouldn't be a need to make a point about Sephiroth taking control of Jenova and influencing the Reunion. I don't mean to undermine Jenova's role in playing a part of all the damage that occurs as a result of Shinra's experimenting with her remains, but the point is that what makes FFVII interesting is how, rather than have the obligatory ancient evil be what's really in control, they subvert things by having the story be more about what happens when humans find and misuse that which they don't fully understand, resulting in an enhanced human who essentially takes on Jenova's mantle rather than having it be her secretly controlling things from the shadows. If we're to point to a "real villain" besides Sephiroth, Hojo would be the next candidate, as he is the source of all these insane experiments and desires to see Sephiroth's plans succeed.

But I do believe that, because Sephiroth was a special experiment (injected pure Jenova cells directly without mixed with human DNA), the impact from the Jenova cells were stronger, in the sense that Sephiroth was influenced by them. Like an indirect manipulation. We all know Sephi was a good guy, until he realized his truth of being an experiment, which affected his judgment and behaviour because of the strong influence by the Jenova cells. The cells wanted to reunite with the other cells, The Reunion, to become stronger. "Hojo hypothesized that when Jenova's cells are separated, they will instinctively attempt to reintegrate, and human hosts carrying Jenova's cells will be compelled to gather together."

I would argue it's really Hojo. He incited most of the events of the game that bring the party together and what ultimately brings the Calamity back. Jenova is but an organism with no motivation but predation in my eyes.

@xlhotlx That part I believe is shortly after you leave midgar for the first time in Disc 1. You get to a small town outside midgar and it's got a long scene where cloud is talking about the past and what happened in nibelheim.

I remember when i got to this boss for the first time, i was like, 9 or 10? Got into FF from Kingdom Hearts, and, the first games i bought were 7-10; played 7 first. The game had hints of Sci-fi craziness but when this boss showed up, going from the sinsitwr build up, to her iconic theme and seeing that THING for the first time- i damn near dropped the controller man lol good times.
