It was a very long bridge and it only halfway finished, people kept asking "when are they gonna finish the bridge", or "is the bridge project dead", "can you contact X person to help with the bridge", even "where is the next episo-- I mean, the next wood plank of the bridge". So they tried to rush the bridge, cut way too many corners, and when people watch-- crossed the bridge and realized it was a shoddy job, it just collapsed. Truly, too much time and effort was wasted in a bridge that had nothing but potential.

It would've been too much of a cutaway from the direction the story was going. That, and unlike the original 'princess' Tifa Lockhart, Thug Tifa probably would've reacted in a manner that would give us a much weaker laugh. The USA release also went with 'orthopedic underwear.' Much more awkward for the original Tifa ^^.

8:22 "Tell us how *you* and Sephiroth entered the reactor" Tifa knows full well that Zack entered, not cloud, but is unaware that Cloud thinks he's Zack. there's a few other references scattered through the show and I think another in this episode (also Cloud enters it later before Zack does, but the memories get merged together so Cloud thinks Tifa ran in right after he gets there). one of these lines is in season 1 when Aerith says she used to date someone in SOLDIER. and of course Zack's voice talking to Cloud every now and then.

Ramirez is actually Cloud, and the Cloud in the flashback is actually Zack Fair. Who was Cloud's mentor, Aerith's previous boyfriend, and the star of his own prequel game FF7 - Crisis Core.

For a time I never played the original FFVII (until recently) and only know some major details like Zack and Cloud being similar/the same and Aerith's death. Now, hearing all the jokes while Cloud tells his story, the stuff about Ramirez, and especially Tifa's reaction to certain parts; it now makes so much sense for those jokes and vocal inflections. If anything, I could consider those a writer and VA director's consideration to details. Especially Ramirez since he never spoke during the actual flashbacks. Hell, the picture taken is a great foreshadowing despite it being a joke.
