This game means so much to so many people, this is the kinda game that can make grown men cry with just a few notes of the soundtrack. This game is immensely important for the JRPG genre in the west.

I cannot stress how true this is... even the first trailer, while it was an open letter to the fans, rather then wolrdbuilding, made us cry like babies when we started recognizing the few musical notes here and there, and we were already bawling when the characters appeared. Final Fantasy VII's soundtrack is one of those things deeply rooted in the fans hearts, and responsible for maybe 50% of the nostalgia. It's impossible to separate this game from the soundtrack, and the REMAKE managed to elevate it even further. REALLY a masterclass on how to remake a game, respect it, improve it and present to a new generation.

For those of us who played the OG Final Fantasy 7 this was something we wanted for a long time but thought we'd never get it especially after the middle finger Square gave us at PSX 2014 with Final Fantasy 7 "Remastered" for the PS4 which was just the PC version of the original ported to modern consoles.

3:15 is the biggest reveal of any video game event ever, the entire trailer was self-referential, FF7 is considered one of the best video games ever made because of the massive leaps forward it pushed games in every department, cinematics, story, world design, audio when it came out in 1997 on the PS1 it was so ahead of its time and shaped so many young people's lives. It's THAT game. When that trailer came out 7 years ago, the internet exploded lol.

Seven is THE Final Fantasy game. This game shaped an entire generation of gamers when it first released. I can still vividly when this game was first announced, the crowd lost their minds. When the first gameplay was shown people went ballistic. When they showed Tifa for the first time, oh my god I can't believe the crowd survived they went so wild. These characters and this game mean so much to so many people. Cloud and Sephiroth are two of the most iconic characters in gaming and Cloud's Buster Sword may be the most iconic video game weapon aside from the Master Sword. They had so many expectations to meet with the remake and they absolutely shattered them. This game was a cinematic master piece and amazingly fun to play combination of action and turn based RPG elements. This isn't even the full game of the original, it's only the first roughly 5-10 hours that they made into a full fleshed out game with two other parts coming in the next several years. Final Fantasy 7 and it's remake are without a doubt one of the most iconic and influential games in all of gaming history.

When I was 10 years old I found a copy of FF7 at a game store in Pueblo, Colorado that my grandfather took me to while we were on vacation. The clerk was a fuckin’ real one and hyped the game up to us, so my grandpa bought it for me. We got back to his house and loaded it up on his PlayStation (he’d invested in Sony of America so he’d bought one to kinda see what he was paying for). We played through the bombing run together, had dinner, then immediately went back for more. I think he let me stay up until midnight, which was a big deal to 10 year old me. We didn’t play the whole thing together, the vacation was only 2 weeks and my parents wouldn’t have let me just play videogames the whole time, but it was always a wonderful memory we shared. Fast forward 18 years and Remake comes out, I don’t get to share it with my grandpa because he passed away the year before. Anyway, I’m obviously over the moon, I’ve been waiting for forever. So it finishes installing, I hit new game. The opening plays, the train rolls into the station, and I just fucking lose it, just sobbing uncontrollably. Sometimes grief hits you at weird times. But FF7 will always be a very special game to me, it’s a memory of a wonderful couple days spent with my grandpa, and it’s the game that got me interested in radical politics and environmental conservation. Remake is a fitting sequel, and it’s pretty much everything I wanted.

Final Fantasy 7, the og game that was released in 97, was ONE of the most Important game in the gaming world. It Helped define the basics of a genre, and it was ONE of the FIRST games, in wich you felt Immersed in Important cause it was for MANY people their first delve in what is knowed as the JRPG genre (Japanese Role PLaying Game). For us Europeans, it was the very FIRST Final Fantasy game we ever played. For the trivia, the Final Fantasy series at the time had 6 games in its franchise, 6 very popular games in Japan. With only 3 of the games that where translated and released in english and in North America, Final fantasy 1, Final fantasy 4 who was renamed FF II in the US, cause since they skiped 3 games din't make much sens to keep the name as FF4 and the same with FF6 that was renamed FF3. And NONE OF THEM was ever released in EU. FF7 was the first one that not only was simply named FF7 in all the countries, but also to have an Eu release as well has a multi language release in french, spanish, italian etc. And it was a BLAST, it was one fo the Hugest succes of the PS1. And it was also VERY importe for the Immersion, cause it is the first RPG game, that you actually felt invested in the characters adventures, backstories, emotional stacks etc The World and the Characters felt alive and lived in, with many twists and turns and revelations. if there is ONE game from the Golden Age era of gaming that was the SINGLE MOST IMPORTANT of all, it is THIS GAME. So when a decade later when the PS3 was announced and we got a REMAKE of the classic FF7 intro cinematic in new graphics and upscale, FANS WENT BALISTIC. Rumors of a FF7 remake for the PS3 where rampant, people just couldn't hold the Hype. Off course Squaresoft did say that NO there was no planning of making a remake for FF7, it was just a nod to the game. But fans where clamoring and begging for them to do it, at least a remaster. And up till 2014-15 we had nothing, rumors and fake news of the studio working on the Remake still surfaced from time to time. Till this trailer, the first one you watch... Where the narrator actually DIRECTLY speak to the fans. -"Long ago we looked at a forbodding sky, the memory of a bruning star still in our hearths"= in 97 we all saw the ending of FF7 with the Meteor menacing the world, -"In its wake came an age of silence, yet with each remembrance we knew" ; we have been siletn about the game for a decade and each time we made a FF related announcement, people where expecting something for FF7 -"That someday we would see them again, peraphs with was nothing more than wishfull thinking", the hype was never letting down but nothing was certain -"But after the long calm, something became to stir", ok after more than a decade of not telling you jackshit, we decided to do it -"The reunion at hand may bring joy, it may bring fear" ; we know everyone is excited, AND also concerned that we fuck this up. -"But let us embrace whatever it brings, for they are back, and the promise hve been fullfilled"; Be happy Bitches, your favorite characters and game is gonna be BACK And this trailer was the one that announced and confirmed that they where working on a FF7 remake Needless to say that Fans went Bananas ALL over the world, evne now seeing it and talking about it, evne tho the game was released 2 years ago and i played the ever fucking dayligth outta of it, i still get teary eyed and emotional when i see this. The lats "trailer" is actually the game's Intro. To the point where you see the Flowers girl (Aerith) was the "new" Intro for the Remake, after when you met her and till the guys jumps off the train is actually the remake of the OG intro from 97, and it is a thing of beauty.

The first Trailer was VERY significant in the fact that it hinted at the FF7 remake or possibly some epilogue or afterstory or a continuation of the game's story or maybe about some side characters. HOWEVER, once the little jingle was heard as you saw the man with the gun for a hand, Barret, come onto the screen, as well as the giant Buster Sword on Cloud, everyone who was watching that trailer live lost their collective shit.

The monologue for the first trailer you watched is actually a really clever acknowledgement of the fans' relationship with Final Fantasy 7. Gamers got to experience the events of the "star that threatened all" long ago on the PS1, its memory imprinting itself on fans as a beloved and famous RPG, who went through an "age of silence" where FF moved on to other settings, then had a period of "fond remembrance" with all sorts of spin-off games made during the Compilation of FF7 era, and continued furiously theorizing that "we would see them again" in a remake, though it seemed nothing would come out of it except "wishful thinking" until "the long calm" finally ended when the first official announcement finally "promised" its release. One thing to note about the title is that "Remake" is not just a corporate label. Nomura loves his word games, and "Remake" has several meanings beyond "Modernized for latest gen machines". In fact, you probably need to play the original FF7 to really get the full context of what Remake adds.

That first one was the hypest trailer for FF7 fans. Everyone has been begging for some kind of remake for decades but Square flat out said they'll never do a remake, siting it wouldn't sell well, really, I think they felt people had nostalgia blinders on and if they tried it, it wouldn't be a hit. There is also a lot of FF7 related content, like Dirge of Cerberus, Last Order, Crisis Core to name a few. So, when that trailer came out it's intentionally speaking to the fans saying ok, we'll do it. It's not a prequal or squeal or anything here is OG Cloud and Barret this is 100% a remake. People lost their minds.

I know this is a couple days late from commenting, and not sure if someone has mentioned it, but the 11:45 min mark, the creatures showed that were fire and ice based, they are summons that you get throughout the game, showing up are Ifrit (fire) and Shiva (ice). You also get others as well, lightning based and support based summons too. One big thing to note from the original FF7 game to the remake is that the directors and developers took the idea and gave it a whole new spin, so no spoilers but the events in the remake differ greatly in the long run, they made it where the remake could be a new experience for returning players, but also a new story to have new players start the adventure from their own view.

It's important to talk about just how important that first trailer was. When they announced that everybody lost their collective minds--it was Square Enix emergency button when the company was going under, and that announcement singlehandedly renewed peoples interest again. The trailer was shown live with no warning, save for a single visual effect on the screen that die-hard fans recognized as the life stream (The FFVII afterlife). There's a single youtuber who's reaction to this trailer was so god damn strong that it saved the games development. Maxamillian Dood is one of the biggest FFVII fans there is, and when they announced this he was screaming, cheering, he turned his rection into a theatrical video--and whenever the devs would be discouraged by the sheer scale of the game (Which was so big it took about seven-eight years to develop, with five being repeated delays as they polished it continuously) they would play that video to show them how much the game meant to people. The third trailer is also super imporant since the start of it--the partical effects, showing Aerith picking up the flower and looking towards the sky as the camera pans out to show Midgard in its entirety--is nearly a one to one recreation of the trailer for the original game.
@pokemon5854
@pokemon5854 2 жыл бұрын
This is the one game Square Enix didn't want to fuck up. They changed, plished, and tweaked so much throughout the trailers because FF7 is their biggest game of all time and if they dropped the ball they'd never recover--and they delivered a *masterpiece* that not only meets the quality of the original, but vastly exceeds it. The world is living, breathing, and believable despite the high fantasy elements in it--because the characters themselves are deep and realistic. Even NPC's are constnantly having conversations on the side, walking around their towns and doing business instead of just standing there waiting for you to talk to them. Every level is super detailed and functions in the way you'd expect it to, from the Slums of sectors 7 and 5 beneath the plate, to the bustling den of vice that is Wallmarket.

Having had the original FF VII as my route into Final Fantasy around 25 years ago it's really interesting hearing you talk about Midgar (the city), the characters etc from the point of view of someone who hasn't gone through the whole story - and cool that you both felt that the trailers has given you enough on the characters to want to know more. I, like many who got into the series with VII, have a relatively strong attachment to these characters. Even with blocky pixel models, Sephiroth was an iconic villain, Barrett (Gun arm) was a badass with a heart of gold and Tifa was...well...Tifa. The others were pretty awesome too (most people go back and forth on Cloud to be honest) so it's cool that they don't lose who they were in the original...if that makes sense? In terms of trailers - "The last one" that Ken referenced around the 23:30 mark? That was a graphically upgraded (and slightly padded) version of the original intro sequence to FF VII when it was released in 1997, so it's nice to know that it still works as a way to draw people into the game :D It was the first time I'd seen an intro cinematic that led straight into playing the game without an intervening load screen/screen wipe/etc. Not such a technical achievement nowadays, but on the original PlayStation? Groundbreaking

Id LOVE to watch you guys do a playthrough of FF7REMAKE+Intergrade Also, evil sexy lady is not evil, that is Shiva. She is a staple ice summoning magic thats practically a trademark of the ff series. Also on that note, your reaction to a compliation of FF summoning magic would be cool too, because in later entries (namely 7 and up) summoning magic became very cinematic and animated and a lot of them are super cool Also, i love that ya both love Sephiroth. Told ya: pnly ff villain in ALL of ff, whos theme chants his name lol And if ya wanna know why there are flowers in a desolate city, youre gonna have to play ;p

So starting at 19:04, it is almost a shot for shot opening of the original game. There is a cut comparison of the original ff7 to the remake. You should watch it. It's so cool to see how much detail they are able to do now and how much care they put into paying respect to the original. That whole video is the opening to the game and it made for a good trailer because the beginning is iconic to FF7 fans and they would be sold with the opening scene alone. Also, good catch on there being no parks and asking where the flowers came from. It's actually on purpose and part of the story.

This game has such a legendary mythical status in the gaming world, yet when i came to know about the world of Final Fantasy is from the movie "Final Fantasy Vii- Advent Children". The best things i still remember from that movie is the hero with the big sword named Cloud who rode a very unique bike called Fenrir, contra to the bike in this game called Hardy Daytona, the insane highway bike battles...and the creepy looking villain Sephiroth who flew with one wing during the epic end battle scene.

There is one place in which Aerith can get her flowers and that’s in a church. In FF7, the church has broken floorboards in the ground and a patch of grass has grown through and she tends to the flowers there. It’s basically the one place in which there’s still life growing. There’s also a hole in the roof where light shines through. To me it resembles the only purity left found in the city, where the Shinra Electric Company are killing the planet through sucking the planet dry of its resources, that Church is a place where life still blooms. Edit - I’m also mistaken, I forgot, her home also has a huge garden where fresh water runs through and there are lots of plants growing, it’s a little house tucked away from the city.

I love the original FF7 and I love the remake. They both have great moments. The remake has commentary about the creators wanting to do something new but the fans wanting them to follow the path of the original and the struggle of breaking away and of course was the beginning of it all. The remake definitely plays on the fact that people have played the original and knew the story line.

I am gonna put this here cuz you are gonna be bombarded with comments that will be both "FF7 is best FF" and also others saying "This one is overrated and ff(insert number here) is the better one" and that's simply because FF as a series is consistently good, even its weakest game in my opinion is still a good game. The story and all that u felt from this trailer is true for all Final fantasies it in general is always about characters and stories first and the rest after it and so the final fantasy which resonates with anyone the most becomes the best final fantasy (for me its 14), and you are right FF7R is a good place to start as any don't listen to any who say stuff like play the original or other one is better please don't listen to them and just play this u wont regret it and I for one am really excited to welcome new people (especially the amazing ones like u) to the Franchise and hoping to see playthroughs of this soon ^_^.

This game is good, though if you plan to play it you could check out a video on the prequel called "Crisis core" first since this "remake" is not really a remake at all, it's more like a sequel to the original and Crisis Core with some weird timey stuff going, but you don't need to know the original to play it, the knowledge you get from Crisis Core is just something it seems like the game expects from you. Though it does of coruse also work as a first game experience, things will just be a bit more mysterious and unexplained, only some parts will be completely unknowable other than what is intentionally unknowable. There is a movie called Advent Children too which is pretty cool. I expect the future remakes to go into it if they haven't diverted the story too much by that point. If you want to see the movie you should probably know the events of Crisis Core and the Original though as they're kind of like a trilogy.

You guys could look into older FF titles too, FFX specifically, had a pretty good love story and cinematic for that time. All number instalment is a standalone story. You could watch/play any of them in a different order. I highly recommend doing a complete story cutscene reaction for FFX. give it a chance. Happy celebration time yet again! Final Fantasy 7 is a fun place to start the series, but be aware it is a whole rabbit hole of a journey. To truly appreciate the content and understand the Remake, you've got an entire series of entries ahead of you. First is the original game, Final Fantasy 7 on PS1, PS4, and PC. The story of Cloud and company taking on the evil company Shinra and ultimately going on a journey to save the planet itself in a deep environmental story. Following it is the movie Advent Children, a direct sequel that builds on the aftermath of FF7. Not a great film, but has good fights in it. Continuing the story is Dirge of Cerberus on PS2 that follows Cloud's ally Vincent, as well as Crisis Core, a prequel on PSP that goes into the true backstory of FF7. It's a lot to go through, without a doubt. But the more you experience, the more impact and emotion you will get from the Remake, which retells the original story with new details that hit deeper because of the prior knowledge going in. If you decide to jump right into Remake, I can't blame you. We in the comments will do our best to explain as you go. Though if you take the plunge into the full experience, I recommend just watching cutscenes of Crisis Core and Dirge of Cerberus, as their gameplay styles... Didn't age well. Congrats again, and see you in the next one. PS: if you want some happy fuzzy feels, look up Max Dood's reactions to the trailers for Remake. Tears of disbelief, joy, and unrelenting hype.

You totally can play this game without any prior knowledge of FF7, but it does actually function as a sequel to the original. The things that are different or expanded on are done in such a way as to comment on the original events, and “things needing to happen the same as they did before” is in fact a major plot point. Without prior knowledge, this is still a gorgeous, incredibly fun (the combat is amazing) action-RPG, with fantastic characters and writing. And the music, it’s absolutely next-level, one of the greatest videogame soundtracks of all time, it’s won so many awards. I can easily recommend anyone play the game, but it really shines for long-time fans of the OG who’ve kept up with the lore and who can engage with the meta-level plot.

Others may have said this already, but the final trailer you saw is actually the opening to the game. It cut right before you would gain character control and start playing. You're dead on with the characters being a highlight. FF7 is a favorite for many because of the characters, their interactions, and character development in general. I think it's only fair to warn you that FF7 Remake is different story wise from the original. They're mostly the same, but they differ greatly in a few areas of vital importance. Having said all that, the final two games in the remake aren't out yet so maybe the differences won't end up amounting to much.

The city you see, Midgar, is suspended 300 meters up by huge columns on metal plates. It’s even called a rotten pizza by some characters. All the pollution is spewed beneath to the ground where the slums are. The people in the slums even have to get by on artificial sunlight with huge lamps under the plate. The original ffvii got me back into video games after I had stopped playing for a number of years. So it will always be special to me along with FF4 (introduced me rpg) and FFXIV (the only mmo I ever stayed with longer than a few months), FFVII remake is a phenomenal game. If you want to play the game, I recommend playing it first then watching Lore videos, as those are more fun to watch after you experience the original source material whether the original or remake game, it adds and affirms the details you already know but it paints a very good broad picture so you can piece together everything, esp because its more of a linear story/game.
