Guys, tier lists are by definition subjective. Ayaka is an SSS tier healer, but is she necessary to clear all the trials in this game? Absolutely not. Many people have cleared Malboro, Leviathan, Wicked Moon, Elnath without any healer whatsoever. Tier lists are a guide for new players to know which units they should roll for. If you are an experienced player, you already know how to make your team work well with the units you have.

That sounds like a private definition to me. The only way it is subjective is when it is based on personal preference, however if the tiers are based on tangible and quantifiable standards then it becomes objective in scope. I make a moot point since this video is based on the former rather than the latter, but to say tier lists are by definition subjective is pretty shortsighted if not misguided.

I have an unconventional team with a great support but NO white mage. If I had a WM on my team that would just insure the Win in the long run, However.. I don't have much time and I want unsaid boss destroyed under 10 moves. Why? Because the long game is not easy to traverse. One miss click and you might as well give up.

SoulBurningEyes Same here, I'm a relatively new (player level 95ish~ i think, logging in later). I haven't run a WM since.. jeez waaay back in the story, first half of season 1 story at least. I find that if my team goes down in a fight, a healer only prolongs the inevitable and that I just need to re-gear my team. For trials and 2* Leviathan or harder bosses, I'll swap an atk unit for another tank and roll with it. Honestly it leaves little/no room for error in gearing your team or missing a beat during the fight though.

There's some contradictory logic on some of these choices. First, when talking about Prompto OP mentions "rating on potential, not ease of equipping", but later knocks Tidus and Onion Knight for not being easy to chain with - those two are definitely top tier chainers based both on damage *potential* and the ability to fulfill multiple roles (OK provides really strong AoE elemental resists, Tidus has Entrust, 100% AoE water resist, and MP refresh). Speaking of Prompto, despite ability to TDH Sparky and dualcast attacks, that TDH is weakened by a low modifier, low innate attack boost (50%), and low base attack, and his support options are limited to one set of breaks. Definitely not the best chainer in the game; if SS is limited to one "best" unit, that is definitely e.Tidus. CG and GL Sakura are definitely top tier units. CG is the best solo damage dealer in the game and has a ton of great support options, and GL Sakura is a very stronger chainer with similarly great support options. OP puts Olive at A tier for being "inflexible", but she's just as restricted to one element and limited equipment as Ang (who has two pieces of gear, his TMR and Fixed Dice, but not much difference there), and Ang is even more restricted by his LB. Her damage is not far from Ang's, is much easier to equip, and lightning is not a commonly resisted element. Definitely a top tier finisher. Finally, Wilhelm definitely belongs in S tier as the best *provoke* tank in the game. Provoke tanks have a different role than AoE tanks and it's unfair to say "provoke tanks are worse _because_ they aren't AoE". Wilhelm is the best in that role (mine is at a healthy 15k HP), and is frequently used alongside AoE tanks like Chow or Mystea to absorb large single target attacks, single target death spells, etc. Not to mention, his LB is amazing and can render AoE cover irrelevant. Once again, I'm not questioning specific unit choices - I'm questioning some of the logic in these choices, especially that which contradicts other choices.

It's kinda rare to find a boss that's purely single target, so cover will always be higher tier honestly. Plus the cover tank can also function in a single attack boss.

Many bosses mix AoE physical attacks with singe-target magic attacks, status effects (stop, charm, etc.), death effects, etc. or the opposite (magic AoE with physical attack, status effects, etc.), or there are attacks that ignore physical cover by being classified as magic or some other means (Aigaion's left arm attack). There are several encounters where just using AoE phys or magic cover doesn't cut it, and they become only more common over time. I frequently use Wilhelm with cover tanks to get total coverage in difficult encounters.

Still curious how Charming Kitty Ariana are categorised as C-tier. She's basically one of the only dual-cast reraise ability skill other than LMFina or Ayaka in the game, Heals + Status recovery that can be dual cast or mixed with her "charm" skill (buff, raise, reraise), 40% all elemental protection, counter heal when hits from magic attack, 10% MP recovery which you don't have to worry about, charm resist, TWO-turn song LB fill rate + high MP regen, stats break resist, full heal HP + break removal Limit Burst, and she literally have the same status ailment resists the same as Ayaka. The only thing that sets her apart from LMFina, Ayaka, and Tilith are she cannot do AoE revive and her healing capabilities which cannot outclassed "Curaja" and "Radiant Light" but her healing skills also can cure most status ailments + DC reraise should have put her in a higher tier. She's definitely overshadowed by underrated healer support in this game for sure, Charming Kitty Ariana and Zargabaath should've atleast B-rank tier.

He has the best of both worlds, with double hand gear, and being able to double use his abilities as if he was dual wielding. Plus he has 2 different chains. You just have to have the gear for him. Thats why everyone craps on him.

What is your thought on how min-maxing the game now is gated behind how many cloud you've ever pulled? (I have 0, but nearly every single finisher in the game). Even if I do pull cloud in the future and switch my set up over to TDH, I felt this is extremely shitty as a lot of characters won't ever reach it's potential without such a specific 5 star tmr. Some would argue it applies to genji glove or awesome swordsman, but the difference between having those tmr and not (potentially using normal dual wield materia) is not as great as not having buster style(50% difference compare to normal double hand tmr).

I agree completely on the B Tier and C tier. Fryjveia will jump tiers once her enhancements arrive. Reberta will do the same with enhancements, and with Aranea, become extremely good once they let us choose when the jumpers come down.

Good stuff. E Aileen is my favorite unit right now, followed closely by Tidus. OK, Ramza, Soleil, iNichol get used all the time. Ayaka great but OP and I find myself using Rosa Bless & Roselia mp recover skills often. Only top tier mages I have are TT & GLS. They are enough. Ling is a do it all for me including dodge & provoke tank as WOL is my top tier tank right now (Gladio only 5 star). Dark Veritas great support & off DPS too. Love enhanced Garnet. Spamming espers is awesome, and she has a great skill set. Still farming my Olives tmr. Emperor has been great for trials. Mystea & Marie invaluable when needed.

Everyone might say a specific role characters are the best imo flexibilty is my cup of tea thats why I mostly use zargabaath than roy cus of how tanky and great of a support he is (and played ffxii:zodiac age hella fun thats why gonna hard pull for gabranth wait whos willhelm?) He may be really weak compare to ramzas breaks and roys buff but of he can cast it instantly and do another like elemental resist and dmg mitgation or imperil and if youre tank dies you cast itninstantly (we cant really compare awekened soliel as she has already her enhancement and shes more of a whale unitish) overall he is just my fortè

I would like to see a 7* tier list someday. Units like Beatrix become much more viable. She has a 42X times light hybrid finisher that only needs a 1 turn to prep. She can also reach 300% on both Atk & Mag much easier than the other units.

Man so much hate. I like the video! I love subjective discussions. The only thing I thought to be off that is objective, is VoF. He can lower resistance of 4 element types (fire, earth, wind, dark) to the enemy, imbue himself the coinciding element, and use Fixed Dice. Has a huge 100% fire imperil counter. Has a huge 10x mod attack counter availability. And he buffs himself 150% when below a certain hp threshold. He's at least A tier imho. Randi/Olive for sure S tier for FD/non-FD finishers.

Veritas of the flame awaken with fixed dice and a good build is valorated as the best finisher unit in game refered to damage but is hard to farm all the necesary for the single handed build

Marie is OP, but that's just me for the most part. (Still, best green mage and most useful support unit on trials like king apep, Equidna, Malboro and some more) CK Ariana can imbue water, that makes her better than Prompto imo although that's not really hard XD Best FD user is actually Nyx (I have 2 Ex-Aileens and 1 Nyx so I'm not being biased) The top _Chainer_ is currently Yun (but not for long) A2 is S rank for sure (and yes I AM being biased there) Queen is boss and I'm glad you gave her credit I haven't double-checked this but why is Mercenary Ramza up there in B tier? He makes Prishe embarassed to be in the same category Overall, it may not be the definitive list in terms of criteria and classification, but it's still good!

HD BLADE MASTER why? Nyx can imbue fire on first turn, he doesn't need to use his lb and does damage every turn, he has higher base atk, and even a chaining partner for when you don't need to finish (Ang has to wait some time before he can fill his lb) Nyx can do damage from the second turn onwards, and he only needs either Ace or Ling. His other skills have way higher modifiers too, and he doesn't need to unlock any of them. In just three turns (depending on how much it takes Ang to fill his lb) Nyx would have done twice as much damage. And his enhancements arent even here. Edit: I would also like to add that not even 5% of the entire playerbase will have access to Ang 7* until next year. Maybe I'm being biased but if you got Yun then Nyx is a better option for any team than Ang who needs a partner like Yan to do damage more consistently

Nice video, but I do have one issue with how you qualified units. You said Prompto is SS because of his potential yet ranked Tidus lower than Orlando despite Tidus having tons more potential. I think that if you are rating based on potential, then stick to that; if you are rating based on practical use, then stick to that. Going back and forth makes it seem like a preference list rather than unit rating.

The use of Xenogears music 'my town is number one' is beautiful. Personally until CG Nichol comes out Lunera is the better bard. Why? Her global exclusive buff on her regen multipliers. In the 7* meta that we will be getting very soon many skills use over 100mp heck TT can quad cast which can drain mp really fast. Cause of the global buff Lunera can compensate those high mp costs. Right now currently her mp regen is overkill at 800+ spirit my Lunera can regen over 150mp a turn. Plus she can reach the 300% stat cap very easily. Cause of her high spirit she is very hard to kill and for a bard that is very important.

Good work!! I agree with your choices. Just 2 things. Tidus in my opinion is stronger. He can reach 1600 atk with a doublehand setup. And his skill hits 12 times with a x7.2 damage so he can chain like a dualwielder so in my opinion is strong as prompto. And zagraa is also very good..not an SS unit but A. Anyway i really enjoy this video!! Try something similar with 7* or 4*

Remember when some of those c tier were considered much higher up the ladder especially Freyvia? I still like a lot of those characters. I wish there was a huge battle mode where you can use far more than in the 10 man battle with strategies and goals sorta like FFT where you had to flood the battlefield or in FF 6 where you had squads battle Kefka to prevent him reaching the esper.

My thing is even after 1 year, even after trying using 16 rare tickets (10 3* tickets) on the healer banner I have no 5* healer (other than Mega Man who is NOT a healer any more than Cecil is :/) :(. I pulled hard on every Ayaka (0 out of 3) banner it's frustrating. I may actually PAY for a CG fina lol. On the good side I just fully enhanced and awakened Garnet so I'm excited to check her out (she LBs every other turn! with 3 materia LB bursts and 2 accessory including Jake's Pirate ring which is LB burst + LB Bonus %). I may end up putting most of that onto Ex Ailleen in the end ofc, but it's cool to have a duel use mage/ summoner just wish she had enfeebling. I have just 2 S but 2 out of 4 SS (Christine who I have YET to actually use.. she doesn't wow me, her spell she shares with others is WEAK so wtf?? I don't get the hype) and Ex Ailleen who I have not used yet either... I want to work on her LB before I awaken her... plus I JUST got my first Elfreeda with no Cloud so it might be a little bit before I feel I can make a good TDH unit... though 1 MG + TR is certainly a start!) I feel you left Onion Knight, Olive and Tidus out (of S/ SS class)! yeah I have the two but I don't have Tidus lol I wish I did though :) perhaps enhanced Randi... I mean if you love enhanced TT who is basically magical Randi! Maybe you don't have Randi so that's OK... I just have EXTREME luck with limited chars for some reason... I mean, at least I got the limited SS'... I SHOULD be able to get the others in time lol... maybe :) I will never get Ayaka.

I'm prepping for god of chaos and I just can't NOT use Olive *shrug* reason I just LOVE her is her 65%def/ 70%lightning debuf! No other character can deal her kind of damage AND debuf! when you need both physical AND magical aoe tanks you need dual use characters. I don't know why ShatShot is NOT the best move in the game (CG Lassworm and... RUGGLES of all people... have similar moves). I don't understand why you have Balthier in B tier for finisher. He deals massive and reliable damage. Tidus, with friend Tidus, and Balthier finisher, I'm dealing near 30 mil damage in 1 turn on legend raid boss (if I defend first turn to allow Balthier's Mark to prok, Balthier alone deals about 11 mil, I'm dealing over 40 mil damage to the raid boss in 2 turns with the 2 tidus chaining)

Rem is a great healer if you invest your time on her. She was my healer for 7 months until i got ayaka. Cg fina will be better than ayaka for mp recovery and other things. Soleil is usefull, but falls down to the new meta (cg nichol will kill her). Yes I want DV's enhancements PLZZZZZ!!! As for willhelm, Im not sure but he has aoe cover on 7* form or it could be with 3* golem.

I just wanna say some characters on C Tier can be very good if you get multiple copies of them and can awaken to 7 star. Lightning is good even Gladio can be very good. So if you get a 5 star unit you are always one step torwards something very good. Unless you get Dark Knight Cecil. He will always be very bad.
