...you know, I'm pretty sure this is what made sure I'd kept going through that final dungeon. Those enemies were Mt. Itoi levels of insane damage, yet... i kept my calm throughout, keeping everyone up to snuff and overstocking on items just to hear that bass play.

This game kicked my ass so hard. Had to grind so much to complete it. You don’t know true pain until you meet the red dragon and armored fiend and they are not even bosses

Also a pair of Fiend Dragons is my worst nightmare. The first one will cast Maelstrom and the second one will wipe out my party with a single aoe attack. It's hard to run away from them and they have a ton of HP. 😁

Late comment, but I personally wouldn't recommend the 3D remake over the original, and certainly not the US copy of FF4 (SNES, known as FF2). 3D Remake is pretty hard, in a good sense, but getting the Japanese SFC version and using an English patch is the best way to experience the game for the first time. The PSP Complete Collection is also another great choice, wouldn't recommend playing the spin off game though, that is horrible fanfiction at its worst.

@@AGZhark Yea. When Scott is fighting the Vegan Ex and they have a bass off he plays the bass line from this game. Hence the quote "Hey I learned the bass to Final Fantasy 2." In the west FF4 was releases as FF2 when it first released.

Could be just about any of the early Final Fantasy titles (FF1-6), or FF9 as they all used the same intro bass in the first 3-5 seconds for the battle theme.

Shame they simplified the harmony ever-so-slightly. The chord at 0:15 is wrong, and it makes this less interesting than the SNES one.

But honestly, it does impact my enjoyment of the music, and it's such an avoidable mistake - if there's any score for the original anywhere, or if the arrangers had actually bothered listening to the original decently closely, they'd have caught it.
