@@Buenosaurus-Rex They did a damn good job of delivering the unsettling situation and stress to the player. Not as effectively as the first Mega Man X game when you fight Vile for the first time. That was a very real feeling of helplessness. There was a very good delivery of misdirection by the bee subboss. Egoraptor does a really good breakdown of it.

The thing scared me and I wasn't optimized to handle a boss... One of my mages specialized for flare for key targets which helped a lot here yet still... Everyone went down! Ramza kneeling at low health and being the last one alive went up to attack it still. still no health showing, still no signs of it stopping and with the last attack he won and saved the day. Epic honestly...

Wiegraf and Velius were the most challenging fights and I remember my first playthrough beating Wiegraf and being overjoyed only for a feeling of dread to set in once I heard this music.

I remember I was like 10 when I played this for the first time, this song and the scene that came with it changed the entire tone of the game. You go from politics between a couple of factions to uh, wait.. ancient demons?!

I always wonder what the game would have been like if it was just noble corruptions, scheming of the Church, and faction subterfuge. But the fact they handled all of that plus Demons is incredibly impressive nonetheless.

I saw my cousin play FFT. He was one of the main reasons I love playing RPGs. Never saw him get to this part because school already started and my mom wouldn't let me watch my cousins play video games all day. When I finally got to borrow the game, I didn't realize the game was so hard if you don't think about your actions. When I got to the first lucavi and heard this theme, I turned off my ps1. Finally beat the game on the remastered version on the psp. And I think this theme is now cool instead of terrifying.

It is really more about knowing exploits (like ff2's craziness) lol ninja with rend speed pretty much owns these guys as much as arithmetician's instant graviga 1/2 off hp sale lol though you will need auto potion or the manafont/mana shield cheese with wiegraf (maybe first strike and range for holy sword spam). ​@@Bluesit32quadruple whatever invigoration heals. Double whatever rend mp (or graviga for hp) takes away to know the hp/mp stats. Wish I could read speed by seeing how many times I could rend it, but mimes are oppressive (holy, double rend speed, math skill overkill, stall with mimic darlavon for human bosses) once you cast quick on yourself for them to have an extra turn for positioning.

A full remaster of this would make so many jaws drop, imagine, a more action oriented RPG and new generation graphics, we would get a lot of the harsh scenes with such a nice art! We could definately see the terror of the Lucavi with move-like quality and more importantly.... characters with noses!

There exists a PSP remake of the game, it is called Final Fantasy Tactics War of the Lions, it adds a few things, mainly the Onion Knight and Dark Knight classes to the game, and a fun little multiplayer mode. Other than that it's pretty much the same.

@@Twizar313 I know of this. It's my favorite version of the game. Though it's more a remaster than a remake in my opinion. I was just saying that it would amazing to see a remake of tactics because next year FF tactics turns 25. That and lately Sjrpgs have been more successful like Fire Emblem, Disgaea and heck Langrisser as well. Sure Langrisser mobile was made by a dude in China who loved the series if I remember correctly. Though that game became so successful that Langrisser 1+2 were remade. Albeit Disgaea and FFT were the only Sjrpgs I love.

Another great remaster+ from one of my new favorite channels! Personally, I never particularly cared for this piece among the FFT soundtrack. It never really sounded like a battle theme, but more the theme of the suspense leading to the battle. But boy oh boy does it nail that suspense. I always felt like the composers tried their best to mix American horror movie sfx like the trills and high notes with the unique style of FFT music for this one. Love the remaster, keep up the excellent work!

I definitely think the intention is more for horror here. When you fight the first zodiac monster and see the ???/??? HP and the bizarre grotesquery that is Queklain/Cúchulainn it's a pretty genuine "Oh shit" moment. At least it was for me. I think this track hits just the right tone. Thanks for listening! :)

I've always been curious about the titles of these tracks. I'm guessing that either track titles like "The Pervert" and "Bloody Excrement" are direct translations of the Japanese names for the tracks, or some nuance that makes the titles make more sense is getting lost in translation. I wonder if a more experienced translator has ever gone back and attempted to re-localize the track titles...

I know alot are translated because the direct translation of "Holy Saint Ajoras theme" the name Ajora was actually Angela in Japanese for some reason so Holy Saint Angela's theme made little to no sense since people would be talking about Ajora.

A very different opening from the OST. Honestly, the OST could use an upgrade there. 0:37 In the OST there are two low notes that are meant to portray the emerging of the zodiac and the emanation of dark magic power. The second note is supposed to be shorter than the first, yet you play both notes the same length and you play an incorrect lower note on the second. It's not the intended effect. 1:15 Overall I LOVE this section. Reverb continues to hurt the clarity for some instruments like the high strings. They sound like they are delayed and out of time with the beat.

I play FFT several times, even though I know already I can beat Velius, but for some reason everytime before entering Riovanes my consciousness always tells me to be well prepared like he is the goddamn superboss, and throw everything I have on him. And yet for some reason, I made a secondary save data.......just in case

@@royalty843 Yeah, I remember. I had a plan the last time I played through to have everyone had 2-swords and blade grasp before I got to that point. Turns out, samurai is hard to level without katana. So, everyone had monk job skill as their 2nd skill. Real pain in the ass. Ninja is easy. Daggers and knives are job equipment for them. Slap on JP up and good to go.

i legit believe that the gaming world is STILL coming to terms with and desperately trying to equal final fantasy vii and tactics in every way, excluding graphics technology. everything from music, story, art, gameplay, ect. then square hits us with, viii, ix, AND x lmao i swear psx final fantasy, ps2 final fantasy, and nintendo's snes will never be equaled modern gaming has lost its way i think i love elden ring, but for me at least, it has little lasting power. it doesnt grip you it doesnt pull you in. its a curiosity and a boss rush. its a watered down, dark soulified, open world monster hunter wannabe. there was nothing like vii or tactics when they came out. they basically invented two entire genres that still stand the tallest to this day.

I would love to see FF Tactics getting a full on remake, the story is sooo dark and deep, full of scheming and horrible things happening to people. The only issue is thte chibi-lookimg character. Imagine this game with new generation graphics, probably square will make it more action oriented, but if the story is left intact or added some things that happen off-screen (Like Ajora´s backstory) then it would be one hell of a game and a way to propperly close the Ivalice Alliance games, after all, this happens centuries after FFXII.
