He is one of my least favorite villains in the franchise, but he still manages to have such a badass and intimidating theme.

@TheCrimsonKodiak, while Exdeath may not be your favorite villain in the franchise, he holds a special place in my heart as one of the main antagonists in the Final Fantasy series. On the other hand, I find myself enjoying Kefka the least. The reason why Exdeath receives a lot of dislikes, while Kefka and Sephiroth are highly praised by many fans in the Final Fantasy community, is due to Exdeath does not meet the expectations some fans had for him. He is often viewed as a generic and cliché main villain with an uninteresting plot in Final Fantasy V. Although understandably, fans desire a fantastic storyline, they tend to overlook Exdeath's godlike powers and impressive feats, instead making tree jokes about him and discrediting the impactful actions he takes in the story. Regardless, it seems that fans of the franchise will continue to look down upon characters like Exdeath who aren't as popular as Kefka and Sephiroth. Witnessing this negative shift within the Final Fantasy fanbase, I have distanced myself from it as it has become worse over time.

@@Lionheart831 dog people like kefka and sephiroth because they're GOOD VILLAINS. Exdeath is a cool villain but lets not kid ourselves, ff5 is only really loved by those that played it as a kid or those that are super in to turn based combat. If you're a story based jrpg enjoyer and just "deal with the mechanics" ff5 is usually a skip as the story is pretty bland for the most part. That's not to say there aren't impactful moments in ff5, its just most of the game isn't like that. Distancing yourself because you think the fandom is worse is a you problem, especially when the only reason you have stated for it is pretty dumb tbh.

@@NickFord92 Your response highlights the reason I've pulled away from the Final Fantasy fanbase. It's because of their biased attitude towards different games in the series. I've mentioned before that characters like Kefka and Sephiroth are more celebrated for their popularity than their actual merit as villains, which is subjective. However, since you seem to be part of the FF community, you might not see it that way. Then, you felt the need to criticize me for pointing out issues within the fanbase, likely because you took offense on behalf of your favorite FF titles. But my goal isn't to disrespect anyone. I've pointed out the problematic behaviors in the community that I've noticed over time. It's important to clarify that I'm not targeting every FF fan out there. Many genuinely appreciate the series, despite its flaws. But, there's a specific subset of fans who are so biased towards their favorite entries that they overshadow the broader community's voice. This has led to a rather one-sided perspective on what constitutes a "good" or "bad" Final Fantasy game, instead of celebrating the diversity of the series. You might think I'm the "problem" for calling out this behavior, which suggests you might be part of that overly defensive group. The way characters like Kefka and Sephiroth are universally hailed as "good villains" is based on personal tastes, and this very attitude is why I've distanced myself from the fanbase. There was a time when the FF community was more welcoming before it became divided by fans who elevated their preferred games at the expense of others. Consequently, my love for the Final Fantasy series has diminished.

@@Lionheart831Exdeath is literally a tree that got fed with evil spirits all it’s life, it’s kinda sad. All he wants to do is end himself and the only way to do it is using the VOID! Killing everyone while doing it it’s kinda sad. I love Exdeath, he’s a good villain and often people don’t even try to understand is motives

@@NickFord92 I first played Final Fantasy VI (originally released as Final Fantasy III on the SNES) before I ever touched Final Fantasy V, which I experienced through Final Fantasy Anthology on the PS1. Initially, I wasn't very fond of Final Fantasy V. It wasn’t the characters or the storyline that put me off, but rather the gameplay and what I considered "mediocre graphics," especially compared to Final Fantasy VI, which I was a huge fan of at the time. However, upon replaying Final Fantasy V, my opinion shifted. I began to appreciate it more and realized that my love had gradually moved from VI to V. I finally understood what the game was trying to achieve, and how it carved out its own unique identity within the series-much like Final Fantasy VI and VII did. Many fans, in my opinion, fail to recognize this, which is one reason I’ve distanced myself from the fanbase. Another issue I have with the fanbase is the tendency of some fans to stubbornly praise one installment while dismissing others, rather than appreciating the diversity and unique strengths each game brings to the table. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but it's hard to deny that there is a noticeable issue within the fanbase when it comes to this kind of narrow-mindedness.
