He thinks he can control Kefka....and Celes. I think kefka ultimately survives or is revived, enslaves the heroes and creates the weapons we see in ff7. He revives Gestahl and creates a way to free the souls of the goddesses. I think they do beat him making him magicite but he already knew how to escape it somehow or other. So theres a whole "G O D" magicite running around for a while that gives people power similar to the ring of power that everyone fights over. Then they destroy that just prior to ff7 where kefka is reborn as sephiroth.

Really, he IS the MAIN Character. The whole plot revolves around him. Everyone else just reacts to his actions.

I guess it's fitting the turn of events happened this way. Ghestal thought he could control Celes and Kefka. Not only does the story transition to Celes being the main hero by attempting to assassinate Kefka, but Kefka assassinates Ghestal to become the main villain.

They removed the hate hate hate dialogue from the Steam edition which sucks pretty bad. As it showed how crazy Kefka was

Would you really call it betrayal cause the way I see it Kefka broke he snapped after getting stabbed by celes like whatever sanity he may have had just broke and he’s now just a unthinking killing machine granted he probably woulda betrayed him later but the only reason he did it now then later is cause he lost his mind
