FF7 was at first planned for the SNES but when the Sony/Nintendo partership broke, and they each made their own console, because one wanted to keep using cartridge and the other to go with CD, Squaresoft moved to the Sony Playstation. This was pretty huge as Square had been Nintendo exclusive until then and everyone assumed they would follow Nintendo. But they also wanted to develop bigger games than I think the N64 cartridges allowed for. FF7 was specifially the very reason they chose a CD based system. There was no shot the size of FF7 would fit for Nintendos system and they adamantly wanted to keep cartridges.

@Ashgrom Actually Nintendo always wanted go go with CDs, but they were unhappy with the deal they had with Sony. So behind Sony's back they struck a deal with Philips and announced it RIGHT after Sony announced their deal with Nintendo, humiliating Sony. Sony got pissed and took what they learned from Nintendo to make their own console to try to stick it to them.

@@Ashgrom Just a small correction, what Square wanted is created a more cinematic game and CD could play videos and stock them easily. If it was not about the 1 hour video lengh of FF7 the game could fit on a 64 cartridge.

@MechEngin3er26 i think they would all do well like that. People would buy FF Pixel Demaster forsure. Indont know much about FF XIII , it has one of the most intriguing stories. , not just in an FF During that time in my life I started playing it though, it wasnt intriguing enough for me to get very far . I always thought it would have been a great film series over a video game trilogy. From what I did see playing it though is that people love Lighting and i just dont get it. Shes a high end fashion model, in comercials for cars and other stuff and and shes been in magazines. She didnt keep my interest as main character. I was more interested in everyone else. I had looked forward to her as the protagonist and I was let down. To me, Lightning is Squal Leonhardt and Cloud Strife mixed together and Squall has 0 character (i like FF VIII i just think too many ideas happening in one game). I always thought Yuna should have been the main character in X, too. Tidas was a great supporting character by faar even the dumb laugh scene everyone thinks is cringe. That dude made a complete fool of himself just make some person he barely knows feel better while he most likely feeling terrible struggling with the fact that he has no idea where he is or whats going on and he may never see anyone he ever cared about again ( I thought it was weird Tidas never mention anyone from Zanarkand other than his parents.). To me FF X is a story about Yuna seen thought the eyes of Tidus. I'm sorry hav gone off. Like that's, one FF leads to another. Not FF XVI I don't feel anything FF about other than the summons. I feel they are digressing but with really awesome graphics. I would mind a FF with a Black Mage as a protagonist. There i go again, sorry.. I don't even remember why I came onto KZbin at this point lol, farewell

I was 11 going on 12 in June. I beat the game at around 13 and Emerald Weapon at 14. I lost my mind when I did that even with the strategy guide(which didn't show easier ways to beat Emerald/Ruby). Best game ever.

Get at least a 256MB /not 4-32Mbit legacy ones/ catridge .. heh .. It would have been epic. The SNES, if it doesn't have a storage capacity problem, can achieve phenomenal levels of graphics and audio /even up to CD quality/.

dude, Square Seriously needs to do a FF7 Pixel Remake like this. I would play it so FAST! Also, I would like the game to be an alternate storyline of FF7, so the game doesn't play out exactly like the original. That way it feels fresh and exciting.
