Rinoa is Ultimecia. Squalls dead. She keeps him alive when her latent powers manifest from the assassination attempt that fails. Edea kills everyone including Seifer then realises Rinoa is too strong. Rinoa kills her and mercy kills Squalls in order to junction him as a GF this being the only way to save him. That's why Griever is relevant and the reason she forgets it all. Since having Squall junctioned for an eternity erased all of her memories. All she remembers is SeeD.

@@stephenlomento5373 Not sure that it was my friend. Seeing as though the creators themselves gave the "either/or" answer which means that 1. They'd rather leave it up to interpretation. 2 They don't actually know themselves. Or 3. They lied to maintain mystery which retains people arguing which default keeps people talking about a game 25 years after its release. Theres no denying that the actual canon of the story is not 100% clarified or confirmed. No one knows. And what's worse I don't think our questions will ever be answered to a satisfactory standard. So imo bcos of Ultimecia having Griever junctioned as a GF and bcos you name this as Squalls ring there is some sort of connection there like it or not. Its there. There's some very suspicious things going on. Ill quickly give a run down of them for any fans that havent actually came across this theory bcos its so plausible I personally think it makes the story better. 1. Up until the assassination attempt on Edea the world is very grounded and realistic. After this event it goes in a very wacky/fantasy like direction. Remember Squall is stabbed with an ice spike from Edea but then wakes up with no wound. Not even a scratch. 2. Rinoa is into Seifer not Squall but after Edea shes heavy into Squall. People say its because Squall has died and is fantasizing in his final moments. 3. For some reason you get to name Squalls ring which becomes the name of Ultimecias GF. We learn in game that prolonged Junctioning of the GFs causes memory loss. Seeing as tho Ulti is far in the future, if Squall had been killed by Edea and Rinoa had junctioned squall to her in order to save his life or life essence it makes sense she would have forgotten everything about who she was. And her motives for compressing time is to bring Squall back into her reality.
