Yeah, I agree along with Halo 2's "Return to Sender" cutscene feels the same when Master Chief flew into the Day of Jubilation (Covenant Assault Carrier) and blew it up with the Covenant anti-matter charge meant to destroy Cairo Station. The Halo 2 Anniversary version of the same scene is masterfully done too from back in 2014.

A ritualistic parade after dark, that begins with the leader phasing through a wall like nurarihyon, delivering a speech berating the public for gathering to worship a literal monster, unceremoniously executing a head of state in the middle of it when he dared to question her, then summoning eldritch abominations for a sparagmos-like sacrificial mauling of the one person who tried to stop her, followed by cultists engaging in ecstatic dancing as they ritually chant a meaningless nonce phrase that's an anagram of the word "love" and the phrase "succession of witches", while their murderous leader is perched atop a golden throne, glowing in the firelight from fireworks being set off at random throughout the city, a terrorist who was supposed to have been executed grinning proudly at her side. This is a horror set piece full of allusions to hyakki yagyou, the night parade of a hundred monsters. I didn't understand all those references the first time I played the game - when I was roughly the same age as the main characters, but I definitely do now!

Anyone noticed that Irvine and Squall's position is the merry-go-round which would put them in front of the float for Irvine to take the shot. When Edea's float goes under the arc and gets caged you can see the shot being taken she she blocks it from the front. Then you see Squall jumping down to commandeer a car and he slams into the gates BEHIND the float?

@Cjdamon042 Actually, Edea IS facing the right was. When the parade leaves the clock tower, it turns left and goes around the block. You can see it at about 0:55. After going around the block there, Edea would be facing the clock tower from the gates. The better question is how Squall ends up BEHIND the parade. It's been a long time since I've played this, but I remember the last time we see Squall, he's on the second floor of the clock tower rescuing Rinoa, which would make him in front.

For spoiler context, these are cutscenes from FF8 for an assassination attempt made by the main character on the sorceress Edea during a festival on a parade float which she travels on through the city and trying to ambush her float beneath an overpass area to shoot her (which fails and end up having to fight her)

Ok, so this is my fav FF and all... and I've not played it in forever but... Is this really a parade with only a single float?! Like, I loved this mission! All the parts, the intertwining group storylines as each did their jobs, the visuals, and even the botched climax when Edea blocks the bullet... But a single float Parade?! I'm just saying that's it's kind of symbolic that the Seed hunt begins after this scene even though they've done nothing wrong. It's not unlike the events of world war 2 and game creators often like to replay real world events in their games. I know Seifer's not a bad guy. He's just tired of losing out to Squall and wants to be a hero, unluckily for him that means being the bad guy for a while.

How nice would it be if they "remade" this game to update the graphics and add actual voice-over BUT kept everything else from the gameplay mechanics, the camera angles (yes, the static camera), etc.? I wouldn't care what system they put it on...if I don't have it, I'll get it just so I can play the update FF8. To this day, I still consider this the most epic game I've ever played.
