I didn't know there were ff13 speed runs going on for so long (or at all). Watching this and learning about all of the strategies i never thought about really makes me wanna plug in my ps3 and, start another new game and hopefully finally platinum it.

I really liked 13. Many ppl complained about it. But having played many of the ff games, I thought it was great. The story can be overwhelming but still good.

imma be honest, i havent seen more boring battle system in any ff that i played (currently playing it but i think i will give up on it)

I mean if you only care about the story just watch the movie on youtube. The battle system takes about 20hrs to actually be interesting. When you become able to freely switch your party and can unlock more crystarium. You can still break it down to "Build stagger with ravagers" "Do dmg with commando" "Switch to sentinel when boss does big attack" "Buff/debuff in between these steps". Not sure how thats more or less boring then previous FF games which are just selecting stuff from a menu as well. They just don't hamstring progression for 20hrs.@@notexsoldier

Final fantasy 13 is my second favorite after 8. It has such beautiful music, art, great mechanic and interesting characters. Thank you for this run!

This game is so poorly structured but the game itself is good. If only it was a 20hr tutorial and the cheapest last boss of any FF ever in history.

Hope naturally has the lowest HP out of all characters, even with HP items, it would be better to play to his strengths as the best Ravager/Synergist that has access to protect and shell so early in the game.

Best combat system in a game. Worst untilization though. Like 10 hours of regular play through until you can actually use the full party and combat system😢

I like the gradual introduction of mechanics and abilities. Not too much at once, always manageable and the joy of seeing some new aspect of combat coming into play every once in a while.

Currently replaying this now, just got to Gran Pulse (finally) but I still have to finish the story before I actually tackle everything else. I always dread everything up until I get to the Archylte Steppe. I don’t consider FF13 bad but the first 2/3 of the game just feels so uninteresting, at least to me. I understand the design of linearity up until that point and how it also ties into the narrative but honestly it just feels like an entirely different game. It’s held me off from playing this again but always worth it if you stick with it til the end.

Great run, wish there were more sequence breaks as the game is so linear you could get the time down a lot if one could be found.

cause a game is linear doesnt make it easier to break. linear games can be difficult to break or is impossible cause of the flag events needing to done before others especially when an event needs to be checked will make it impossible

Well yes, but it's a run with many technical stuffs that few people outside of speedrunning know, that they, in general, prefere talking about that instead of the story itself, since there is not enough time for both (except in Gran Pulse, but the story is on break at this point).

I guess it depends on your perspective. I watch speedruns because I want to understand how they do this better. If I want to listen to the story then I would watch a casual play through or a walkthrough.

There are these things called casual play throughs, walkthroughs, retrospectives, and reviews. All of these things include story. When I’m watching speedruns, I want to know the mechanics that make them go fast. I want to learn what they do so that I can tinker with the mechanics during my own play throughs. You came to a speed run for the story, that’s like going to the liquor store for milk. You can get something nonalcoholic to drink, but it won’t be what you wanted.

The 4 GB patch has no usage for FF13. The FPSfix is a different category nobody runs nowadays.

It can be manipulated only in Consumate Light. In Extreme Opposite, it's random (and Sentinel's provoc doesn't work).
