oh btw, when the long gui is staggered and you are gonna use death, switch to cerberus as soons as you use it, right before death actually hits the target so you can get the bonus damage and made not 300k but over 500k or even 999k in you have more than 3k magic

I dismantled an maxed out Doctors Code for an Elixir which restores TP during battle. Just used your Vanillle poison/eidolon strat and afterward popped the elixir and did the same thing again, supercheesy i know but i hate those Turtles after farming them for days xD. Thanks for the guide 11 years later, got my final achievment!

My characters are all maxed out, all three have a tier 2 or 3 weapon, Vanille's Marlboro Wand is maxed out, Vanille has all magic enhancements equipped, Fang and Lighting have all strength enhancements equipped, but the second method is still not working for me. Half of the Long Gui's life is NOT being taken off in summon mode. I don't know what's going wrong here.

The second strategie with "Death", you should make a 4th Paradigm, called Berserk with 3 Damage dealer, after you start to cast "death" switch Paradigm and wait for the Damage, it will be almost as double or trippled higher, because of the Damage ++ from the Berserk Paradigm. After the skill hit the enemie, switch back and cast Death again... I defeated Long gui witch this strategie much more easier, even without poison!

If Light still doesn't cast Enfire... try using Libra on the Long Gui. I am still having problems with this guy... He stands up before I can kill him. My stats are slightly higher than the ones in the vid with the best weapons (but only Fang has hers maxed the other are 60+). Driving me nuts really.

Regarding the second strategy in this vid; why does your Lightning not cast Protect and Shell even though she's a level 5 Synergist and you're not using an Aegisol? It's not possible for her to get Enfire on anyone quick enough, let alone the entire party, with the stats needed to pull this off.

@shinysafer you need a trapezohedron. These go on sale for around 2,000,000 gil but nobody buys them. You can boost for trapezohedrons on adamantoise and long gui, although it's much easier to do on adamantoise. It'll take you a while to get one, so don't even bother to use anything that could up your chances of getting items. It won't do much.

I keep on trying to kill this thing with the easy trick, but it stands up too soon. I have all characters maxed, starred all the weapons to tier 3, but Vanille's is level 16 Malboro.... and I'm following this strategy perfectly. Could Vanille's wep be bringing me down?

Does slow reduce how fast it stands up. I have to use shrouds for Adamantoise, even though all my levels are 5 except one which is 2 or 3. But should I really use slow when it's staggered just to have more time to kill it, it always stands up before the stagger is up and I usually die.

The Long Gui and Shaong Long Gui appears If you finish a special Cieth Mission ( one of titans missions or one in the middle in the arychlte steppe ). Bhakti gives you the information.

Make also sure to read that monster with libra or librascope, i was having this problem also but when i did this and cast imperil it worked like a charm!

Hey. I've watched skme vodeo's of you and you keep seitching your party. Vanille and hooe can both heal so why do you use hope in some fights and vanille in others. In this video you make fang the leader instead of lightnning. What is the effect of making fang(or other members) the leader?

you get to choose the ability in midfight..manually when you control fang or any other character as the leader... if fang is not the leader, the ai, won't use highwind..

There is another problem is you want to be safe, dont use physical attacks against the legs as when it stomps and you are under it even protectra cant help you due to the 2x damage 1 from the leg and 1 from the tremor so use more ruin than attacks. Or if your timming is right than use attacks if your attack is higher when the leg you are targeting has just stomped

@caralhocomesteyoutub I agree. I'm not as maxed out as you but I'm close and I also can't make a dent. You can have full health plus full buffs on all squad members and be in the tortoise paradigm when the Long Gui attacks and you'll still die. It roars, which takes out 3/4 of your health and also dazes you, then it immediately follows with Ultima which kills you. And how the hell does he immediately drop the Long Gui by summoning using the Vannile method? It makes absolutely no sense.

@Farlavor2 build up your defense with buffs and you can survive it,but tortoise is really easier and sometimes i get 2000 damage only.so use it.

no offense to the creator but wouldn't you want your accessories levels maxed out? it would make things a little easier during the battle. The Royal Armlet is a perfect example it makes a great accessory when it's maxed out, having 2 would increase your defense exponentially making the fight easier. Just sayin.

@11181995lito the best sword for everyone is the different because each sword helps differently,lionheart sounds strong but when compared to gladius in their 3rd tier,gladius has 200 more strength.the quick stagger bonus that omega weapon(lionheart) gives is nothing.it's just 0,5 second quicker stagger while omega weapon(gladius) gives you +200 strength more for stronger hits.

@dsafsfa you can only have 3 of them you need the three doctors code's you obtain to make then dismantle and if you want to cheat or have a supply you can use an export and mod it i unfortunely did that so i have 99 but the supply of potions is handy

did it with the vanille strategy and it worked miracles. even though you are missing 2 paradigms that i had to make unless i couldnt do enough damage to him in time after he stood up again. an MED SAB MED paradigm with vanille MED fang SAB and lightning MED. and an triple sentinel paradigm for those roar ultima combo's. but it worked and im happy for that:D this stupid achievement is gone forever. now i just need to get the rest of the weapons and every mission 5 stars:(

@jasonh8948 You can't get an instant-ko on a Long Gui with the death spell. It's used simply beacause it's just about the only way to hit 999,999 on a Long Gui. The death spell, with the right set up, can look like it just about ignores the Long Gui's magic resistance. (I mean seriously, I've seen it it sextuple 9's, meaning that if a Long Gui wasn't resistant to magic or halved it, it would be doing just under 10 million damage per spell)

@SilentStep64 The thing with me is that the monster attacks twice. For example, it uses ultima and quake or stomp. I can't survive that. And this time I've got everything maxed out including all gear. I've got plat on this game cuz I got lucky with Vanille. But I'm trying to beat normal way like I do with Adamantoises and nothing can be done. I mean I can now kill an Adamantoise in 1:00-1:10 mins but still this guy is impossible for me. I don't get it why is it always hitting me twice in a row..

the easiest way i know is to get loads of debuff like the vid says but have a cerberus set up (com+com+com). Have a genji glove on vanile, use death, then instantly change to cerberus, as comando's increase the dammage dealt by all attacks, and if he's debuffed enough and the gods are in your favour, you should deal 999,999 each time. then just rinse and repeat. ^.^ (casting daze helps a lot to avoid roar)

So im pretty inexperianced with this game. But when I encountered him, he was super strong.. I farmed for several hours just to beat him. And the fight took me almost four hours (yes I did attack his legs and such). Why would this tanky boss be that early in the game? I had to beat him to advance to the academy etc. Oh and I also did lose to him a few times earlier.. one of those battles I lost after three hours.. This boss costed me maybe 15 hours if not more. Was it me that did something wrong in the game to encounter him or something? The boss after him took me two minutes to finish.

@caralhocomesteyoutub Vanille's poison works, but only with all lvl 5 roles and 3 genji gloves. I used Sazh instead of Light (more hps). If you summon as shown for unknown reasons, he just drops. Immed. cast poison but if it doesn't stick on the first try, restart the battle. In Gestalt, only use the chain cannon and only fire as the arrow reaches the very bottom. The key is to stall and let poison take out his health. After gestalt, follow GameXplain again. If he gets up, game over.

@SilentStep64 Yeah I know all about that... I was talking about beating it the normal way. But anyways I've already done and it is no longer a problem for me. Sometimes one can be very stupid xD I guess I forgot to use the right paradigms. Which were mostly the same I was using for Adamantoise. I don't let Gui live long enough to hit me twice in a row, I kill it before that happens and if it happens, just gotta stick with tortoise paradigm for a lil longer nothing to it. Thanks anyway!

Yeah but I'm trying to do it without summons or shrouds, since I am farming them for ingots, now it takes around 7-8mins for me, Gonna get my 3rd Ultimate Weapons for Fang and Lightning (Shamanic Spear and Edged Carbine) to kill them in 2-4 mins

Got it on my first try with the second method. I had to use an Elixir, but luckily I saved right before the fight. I didn't need the CP since my stats were maxed out but at least I got the achievement.

I’m very VERY late but for those having the same issue and if it’s your first time fighting a long gui, use libra or librascope which will reveal its weakness so that lightning will be able to cast enfire. Very very stupid but that’s FF XIII for you.

Highwind resets the chaining progress, so it should be used right before a stagger ends. Or else it will become 100.0% again.

Thank you for this video! Using Vanille's "Poison" I was able to kill it after my third attempt! Also it based on some comments, it seems some people are having trouble with Lightning's Enfire. I think the reason is because the AI hasn't yet learned to do that. What solved it for me was switching to a Rav/Syn/Rav paradigm and once Fang and Vanille started casting fire, Lightning finally got it in her head to Enfire our weapons. Then I realized what an idiot I was and I could've just used a Librascope :P

Lightning doesn't use Enfire until you have either a Ravager or a Commando in the active Paradigm along with Lightning in Synergist WHEN the Long Gui has Imperil while collapsed.

I am just now fighting the Adamntoises and I have 1-59 5 starred. I think it helps to 5 star the missions on your first try so you don't have to return to them later as the stronger you get, the more the target time decreases.

Insane second stratedy works for the very first time even when i’m slower then you i manage to kill him in 1 stagger and i got lucky with some super rare item 😂

It is a 1% rare drop man. Use an upgraded Collector's Catalog to make it easy.
