FINAL FANTASY XIV Baelsar's Wall The Griffin Boss Battle Dark Knight Clear

Hi all! In this video we take on the last boss of Baelsar's Wall The Griffin. Spoilers on who this is if you haven't done this fight yet. This is one part of the new dungeons in 3.5. He isn't so bad just some things to watch out for. One thing save your gap closers and springs to avoid the big aoe. Also claw of the griffin I believe is the tank buster so use your CDs to help mitigate. Also healers watch out for his lionhead attack as it does aoe damage and you can also get chained. @@Narokh Hi Narokh. Is your argument that it's ok to post spoilers because people should have seen it coming? My experience was that I expected it, but I felt very disappointed when it was shown to me in a thumbnail when I just wanted to look for a dungeon guide to tank well for my party members before queueing. I feel like putting it in a thumbnail has no added value. It makes it a spoiler for people who did not even click the video.

Yes obviously it is a spoiler and in general I agree that checking thumbnails when uploading to avoid them is the proper thing to do. Just in this particular case I feel it's more of a "I knew it" thumbnail than a full blown "did not see that coming - spoiler".

Please consider changing the thumbnail. I was immediately spoiled after seeing the video thumbnail on the youtube search page. As a beginner tank and first time player to the game, I watch dungeon guides so I'm not completely blind going through the dungeon.

i think they was trying to summon the ala mihgo diety. remember they just as die hard as ishguard about the teachings of their diety, which takes a massive amount of aether (2 dragon eyes is a lot of power) prayer.... all ala mihgains pray to the destroyer and sacrifice we saw this iun the extreme primal story line with garuda titan and ifrit

I don't remember I believe you can possibly get the orchestrion from the gold saucer but it was the updated boss battle music as of patch 3.4 if I can remember correctly it's been a very long time

First of all, we just saw the Griffin only one patch ago. Second, explain exactly how people would guess Ilberd would be the Griffin? The clues we are given would not have been enough to determine who it could have been. We haven't even seen Ilberd since around the beginning of Heavensward. And thirdly, I can guarantee you a lot of people have forgotten about Ilberd after so long. I forgot him until I started wondering about him when it was revealed that 4.0 would revolve around Ala Mhigo.

It's not that hard to put 2 and 2 to make 4. Both of them were Ala Mhigo resistance fighters. Both of them had the same motives. I'm sure there was more evidence than that. All made it obvious but interesting still. The eyes were a bit of a surprise though. Ilberd was in Heavensward and the majority of the storyline in the begining revolved around him. I'd say I almost forgot about Yugiri haha.

I'm not gonna lie, this fight with Ilberd greatly disappointed me. Not only was this fight pathetically easy, they missed so many opportunities with this battle. We don't even get to see one final clash before Raubahn and Ilberd. I knew we probably wouldn't have gotten Raubahn as an ally against Ilberd but we don't even get to see the two converse before what happens to Ilberd after this. To top it all off, Ilberd doesn't even get his own unique boss theme for this fight. They reused the 3.4 boss theme for him. In all honesty, this fight felt rushed and incomplete; similar to how this patch has felt for me in general. I would have preferred if they didn't make this and instead made him a boss in Ala Mhigo in the new Stormblood expansion. And as a little side note, what the fuck happened to Ilberd's voice since we last saw him? I don't know if his voice sounded different back when we fought him to save Raubahn but his voice is terrible compared to his previous voice back in A Realm Reborn.

Mr. Freeze Maker of Ice Puns from what I know they redid all the voices from ARR to heavensward there may even be a change in storm blood. I have a feeling that in 3.55 something big is going to happen I'm not going to say but I'll hint it's the opposite of omega weapon

As much as I completely disagree with you. This fight was way better than all the fights in the regular Heavensward dungeons. The Raubahn and Ilberd arc was already settled during the Main scenario. Also, I wouldn't be surprised if Ilberd comes back again.

Agreed. This battle felt epic. lots of big AOEs to dodge, he even tries to kick you into one of them. There's a decent amont of mechaniques to easily make this fight memorable enough.

You say you want a hard fight in a Storymode dungeon? Do you wanna repeat what happened in 2.55 and have a good portion of the playerbase stuck in "Steps of Faith" again because: A) People fail at basic communication or understanding of mechanics that cannot be cheased. B) Because of the A reason, those who manage to complete the duty and get send back in there for roulette would just leave the duty the moment they see where they got send to. Seasoned and geared players will make the fight tribial, ungeared and inexperienced players will make it hard. The first time I went in I happened to be with 3 ungeared players that were barely doing any dps and healing was almost nonexistant. If I counted right, Ilberd used Lionshead like 4 times. What I'm saying is, Square Enix will not go back to what they did with Steps of Faith in which they provided a decent challenge that required communication and above average dps to beat it in a STORY CONTENT, preventing them from reaching the expansion. If Baelsar's Wall had truly been hard, we would be back to 2.55 with everyone going nutts about not being able to complete the story misions.

Also depends on the content. If you're doing Story many people you queue with are helpful. Doing extreme or raids though, yeah it's going to be a mixed bag. Especially if you decide to go in blind in the content. Sometimes people do help though, like pointers in the chat for an extreme trial.
