Looking back on it now it adds a lot to the falsehood of the world, making me think of FFXV as: "What if the Hero was betrayed by everyone around him, those he loved eliminated, and corrupted?" I noticed how almost every song has some choirs or vocals in the back, which I'm thinking its to symbolise the influence of the Gods. The very same gods who are watching Notcis' story and betrayed Ardyn all those ages ago. And even before Noctis cut him down you could hear vocals straining through, as if it was all the gods (or just Bahamuts') plan to get rid of the Starscourge. To end off, the inclusion of Lotus Juice reminds me of Persona 3 and has me comparing the themes.

@@LuckiSir Versus XIII, by it's own wording, was designed to act in opposition to FF XIII - that is, being unable to defy the will of gods and by extension fate. FFXV, the eventual product of this work, still incorporates this theme, especially when looking at Episode Ardyn in its entirety. The main game has you always being told what to do by someone with loyalty to the Hexatheon, and the music having those vocals emphasise this all the time with remarkable subtlety.

Just finished the dlc and oh dear, I loved every second of it. I spent hours sliding around Insomnia, killing people and buying cute little hats. The fighting style is 1000% more enjoyable than what we got in the main game.

Edit: TL;DR: This DLC reminds me of the Prototype series and, all things considered, I thought it was incredible. I dunno about the rest of you, but I got some serious Prototype vibes from the gameplay of this episode. Daemonifying people reminds me a lot of when Mercer/Heller absorbs someone, since both parties become stronger after daemonifying/absorbing respectively, and they also gain the memories of whoever they daemonify/absorb. Ardyn can also disguise as anyone he wants, while Mercer and Heller can disguise as anyone they absorb. The shadowstepping mechanic when used in mid-air reminds me of Prototype's gliding, and going around destroying generators and spreading the darkness reminds me of Mercer destroying military tech and spreading the Mercer Virus. On top of that, both the Niffs and the Blackwatch wanna weaponize daemon energy and the Mercer Virus respectively, and both parties want to study Ardyn and Mercer/Heller respectively in order to do so. All in all, I thought this was a marvelous DLC with great music and a fantastic story for an incredible villain, it really makes me feel for him and question the will of the Astrals. I just thought the Prototype vibes made it all the more enjoyable.
