Just throw out a Ramuh orb (you can be on the complete opposite side of the screen from the enemy (for space / timing) and you can always pull off dancing steal (therefore a Zant) as the game registers the orb as another hit box. Once you learn to abuse this the combos you can pull off are ridiculous.. adding rift slip to the mix simply breaks the game even more. If you happen to score an orb within the radius of an enemy and pull of the dancing steal.. lol; dust.

@@weebderick3626 this and also dancing steel is just long enough that if you pull it off just after a perfect rift slip youll have another rift slip ready to go when the animation finishes, thereby allowing you to safely expend all the zan meter you built during dancing steel. so the combo would go zan>rift slip cancel>dancing steel>rift slip cancel>zan

Rift slip also make attack parrys really easy. Which provides another source of time slowed down.

You can combine Dancing Steel with Ramuh's lighting rod to not only do a much higher amount of damage, but it also counts as 2 hits per hit if you're hitting both the enemy and the ball, so you can get level 5 zantetsuken without any extra accessory or odin ability. i usually farm a level 5 zan before stagger and then use this method to hit 2 zan's in one stagger. This is very effective against a single boss.

If you hit Cold Snap on a boss you have time to cast both orb and dancing steel. Do this 3-4 times and that's the whole boss fight, it just comes down to hitting 3-4 cold snaps lol.

You can also throw the orb out away from the enemy (even on the complete opposite side of the arena) to pull off a dancing steal and gain at least a level 3 Zan.. usually Clive will jump from the orb to other enemies (even those on the other side) so I get close to 5 regardless. This kind of breaks the game but comes in handy during a pinch.

@@haisex3 farm one before the stagger, then use right as the enemy goes down, and then use the method i said. Depending on how fast you do it, you can also use other powerful attacks as well, a managed to fit 2 zan's and ramuh's ult in the same stagger.

Very good guide just have one small correction, The Pull of Darkness (Dancing Steel) accessory is obtained from defeating the boss at the end of the main story quest "Streets of Madness". The accessory you get from the chronolith trial is The Will of Darkness (Dancing Steel) which increases the will damage from the move. Keep up the good work, been loving your FFXVI videos!

Hey bro big tip for when going for parry Always charge your magic whilst attempt the parry, and release right after doing melee so that if you miss you go straight into of the charged magic skill. 👊

Major tip that I found in a different channel: you can do ANY parry (so burning blade also counts) and while you are still in the parry slow down animation immediately activate arm of darkness and then attack to do the steel counter that way. You dont need to parry and have arm of darkness activated to do the steel counter follow up, any normal parries will do.

one thing you missed is that the downwards slash with arm of darkness continues indefinitely until you hit the ground making it very fun to use as a glider from high altitude

A really cool mechanic I've discovered is that- if you enter into a fight and activate lightning rod, target it with dancing steel- it actually starts up the dancing steel combo WITHOUT any enemies needing to be close by. Almost guaranteeing you a safe start to dancing steel. Another tactic, if you can permafrost dodge enemies, you can freeze LITERALLY every enemy in the game and guarantee using dancing steel (even combining ALL OF THAT with lightning rod for extra damage)

You can use any Odin skill without Odin being your active eikon and still gain Zan meter. Hit g with dancing and you can swap eikon still get the meter and set up for any follow up

The skill I haven’t heard much about and have had little success withRift Slip…. I tried Orin’s trial once and when Rift Slip was equipped I felt neutered. I def need more specifics regarding it. This I’ve heard fromnmany creatora note including you and it’s very effective. A Upgraded Dancing Stell upgraded give around 3.5 bars of Zan meter minimum. If you have trouble landing the start of the attack and miss due to long charge up…. Start with Shiva’s Cold Snap precision dodge to apply permafrost easily giving you a long window to efficiently start Dancing Steel

Odin is my favorite, I also use channelers charm to charge my magic so I can fire after a combo for more damage and to set up the next combo

I found rift slip to be for more advanced game play. I think for more casual gamers it is going to be the least used ability. Slowing down time is useful but pales in comparison to Shiva's dodge freeze which can freeze enemies for so long, they are just a sitting duck. I think Shiva and Odin paired with lightning rod in the mix synergizes so well.

Pro tip: you can use Limitbreak and not be interrupted for Odins ultimate skill. That was you only need to make sure it hits. Cant be staggered. You can also cancel Limit break mid skillanimation

Since most of his abilities are all fairly terrible at damage and they're all built around Zantetsuken you're right. But they're also pretty good for combo extension. Arm of Darkness alone seems to do more stagger damage than Clives base sword combo, and Slip Rift can be used in practically any setup. His combo moves seem okay for juggle extensions too, but I do agree that there is little justification running those abilities on any other Eikons unless you are running Odin due to the way that Zantetsuken works.

@@jakemoore5077 all of his moves do absolutelu abysmal damage my guy. It's how the Eikon works. You can use accessories like the one that makes Gungir do 30% more damage to boost it up... but his gimmick is that he does next to nothing in damage outside of Zan. You HAVE to run Odin to really make use of any of his abilities... and to effectively use Arm of Darkness which is garbage at damage or stun you need to run his other abilities which help build Zan. So yeah, you effectively HAVE to build around him. The only utility move he gives is Slip Rift, and since all of his other moves have huge animation locks you HAVE to run Slip Rift with him. Odin's moves end up taking a huge portion of your slots, literally meaning you HAVE to build around him. Bahamut is very similar in that you have to build around Megaflare, but his moves at least provide a lot of utility outside of his feat. And even if you just run the Ult and Arm of Darkness... you're still building around Zan as your gimmick since Odin takes up a feat slot that could be relegated to more utility Eikons like Garuda, Phoenix, Shiva, and Titan (or even Ramuh weirdly)

You get "the Pull of Darkness(Dancing Steel)" = Increases rate of Zan gauge from a Sidequest not the Trial. The trial grants you the Will of Darkness(Dancing Steel) = Stagger Damage increase

Nice guide, but you are missing the most important feature, you dont need level 5 of the zentetsuken to perform the atack, you can use every 5 levels individually, all levels has different atack animations and they are pretty amazing.

sadly odin effect of slashing ability got nerf when clive got him the dimension slash thingy never the same when barnabas use it like it can slash on fabric of space but when clive used it the slash looks normal specialy the ult no hate i just notice it

literally waiting for this. My problem is that in FF mode I am very much reliant on zentetsuken to clear mob and play neutral game against boss. Now I desperately want to break from odin (and bahamut's gigaflare for that matter). so any non-odin/bahamut/shiva FF mode loadout video?

@@williamleonhart177it depends because ramuh actually has some of the best damages skills in the game but they are single target and their combo potential heavily relies on weaving ramuh’s feat into them which is a play style that isn’t easy to achieve. Zantetsuken is great because you can use it as a damage dump while also setting up other things, which is why arm of darkness is designed around lowering damage output to facilitate this. What makes Odin valuable is what also limits it, zantetsuken is centralizes your gameplay and takes tools away from as a result. Titan, Phoenix, Shiva and Guruda lack in raw damage output in comparison but are highly valued because they provide in some way a mechanism to enhance combos and thus increase damage output overall.

@@DoesNotExist232 yes ramuh got some of top skills in the game. btw i find it away to set up zantetsuken lv5 the fastest. just put lighting rod then dancing steel. you can even do 2 zantetsuken / stagger combo. which is pretty broken even against top bosses on ff mode. Jugdment bolt is a good finisher along with wind up, gigaflare and zantetsuken lv5. among those 4, i think gigaflare and zan lv5 are the top choice. Shiva is really good for cold snap and diamond dust stagger/1.5 multiplier. For garuda idk how should i use it, the damage output is way too low.

I only use Garuda after an enemy is staggered to lower them to the ground and figure out my next move or if I just suck at starting a jumping combo I used Garuda to just keep myself into the air (bigger enemies) indefinitely

I much prefer Shiva tbh, with Phoenix only shifting towards the enemy, using lunge is only fractionally slower for the same outcome whereas Shiva gets me anywhere and of course the freezing etc

use upgraded lunge for mobility instead since they basically do the same thing, only difference is phoenix shift is a teleport but im not sure if they have significant difference regarding the distance covered. Sidenote: forgot that phoenix shift also works for flying/midair enemies so thats the downside of using alternative lunge for mobility

What I’d really like to know is how to max the damage how the unique attack because there isn’t exactly any clear explanation of how to do it. Maybe you’re supposed to use it right as you it blinks? It can provide high damage in one attack. Instead of having one single attack it can do it twice for extra damage.

Just upgrade the zan ability in the eikons menu, it increases the level cap

To be honest, shits underwhelming as fuck, abilities do no dmg, sword does 1/10 dmg a normal swing, and idk about anyone else, using cool look skills that do next to no dmg just to build towards one move you use over and over isnt my idea of fun, plus i do way more dmg with my current setup. I was thoroughly disappointed with Titan Bahamut and Odins skillsets, (besides gigaflare) yippee just what i wanted in my frenetically paced action game.... Fucking wind ups for 3 minutes. They couldve skipped all 3 of them and i wouldnt have even been mad.

It does little damage because 1 - it does more Will damage than your regular sword & 2 it builds up to Zantetsuken which is one of the two most powerful moves in the game alongside Gigaflare. Also, Zantetsuken has use cases for all 5 levels of it so it's not just to build to Level 5 it's an entire playstyle in and of itself. If you want to do damage while building Zantetsuken just drop a Lightning Rod in front of the enemy first.

The abilities are for stagger and to build up the Zantesuken. At lvl 5, the Zantesuken does a ton of damage.

The point of odin is using those small damage abilities to increase zantetsuken to level 5 which is the highest damaging skill in the game decimating all enemies on the screen, yes on the screen In my build dancing steel is the only skill that matters as it fills up the gauge immediately
