Not sped up. isolate one fighter. Just look at one of them. It appears very fast cause you try to focus on both moves at the same time. Classic movie trick. They are superskilled and superfast but not unachieveable fast.

You can tell Jackie enjoys sparring / performing with Bradley. Because he understands how Jackie works and is able to match his rhythm and go with the flow. It's probably what helped Bradley became the first non Asian member and eventually leader of Jackie's stunt team. It's a shame he died last year.

Agreed, this scene has always stuck out. It reminds me of the Bruce Lee/chuck Norris fight, the respect they have for each other. But then the humor and unbelievable skill of both performers really puts it up there. The only better scenes I can think of is every scene in legend of drunken master (the one about stolen artifacts, not the one where the old drunk teaches him), every fight scene in that movie is near perfection.

@@puskow the scene when he is getting the purse back is so incredible, there is one potential wire stunt when he is laying on the bench and they pull it from under him but it could be real. But this scene, and basically any scene in the movie is worth watching in slow motion just so you can see all of the stuff actually happening in realtime. He does a spin kick that has blown my mind for a while, he does a double spin but the foot you would expect him to connect with actually just gets used to jump again and then he sends out a snap kick with the other leg. I had to watch it like 3 times to figure out what he actually did. And yeah Anita mui makes me cry laugh with all of her shady antics.

Hong Kong knew how to film fight scenes. Wide angles for almost the entirety. They show every punch and kick from start to follow through. Fight scenes in Hollywood, and even modern Hong Kong suck. That's why people still talk about these old movies, and watch these scenes on KZbin. Bradley James Allan's kicks are lethal, and his verticality is incredible. He was 5'4" but those kicks look like they reach 12 feet! He was a beast. RIP dude.

Brad Allen made the neophyte martial arts actors look great, and the truly greats look legendary. He was an amazing stunt coordinator and fight choreographer, but also a genuinely good martial artist. Jackie Chan said, after Brad's death, that he was his favorite to work with who wasnt one of his "brothers" (graduates of the near mythic China Drama Academy run by Yu Jim Yuen, where Jackie and his brothers all took their original stage name, Yuen). Whether you love or hate the movies he helped make, no one can argue that the choreography and stunts in films like Scott Pilgrim, Kick-Ass, Hellboy II, Riddick, Rush Hour 3, Shang Chi and many, many more werent top notch. R.I.P., Brad.
