Final Film at The Point

The projectors at the UK's first multiplex cinema - The Point in Milton Keynes, stop rolling after 30 years.

I went there on that very last day to catch one final flick. I don't even remember what I saw but the memories came flooding back of when I saw loads of movies there throughout the 80's and 90's with friends, family or by myself. It was that epic era of neon lights, Madonna, Michael Jackson, Mannequin, Moonwalker, When Harry Met Sally and 80's greatness all around. I talked to so many people including several much older couples who had their first dates there and then got married eventually. It was so sad to see it end. I'm proud to be one of the last ever customers of The Point. The next day, the state of the art Odeon at StadiumMK opened.

As I commented on the other video, why are they going to demolish this? It's truly one of a kind and an interesting building!

I remember watching Alien 3 for the first time in that theatre and spending the rest of the evening angry as hell that the beginning of this film completely nullified the happy ending of Aliens. I also remember the wonderful pro wrestling arcade game they had in the lobby.

I went to kids club here every Saturday morning for £1 with friends and remember waiting for the citizen on a Thursday to get the go paper section to see what film will be showing Saturday

i still think its a waste of money to knock it down then just be an ugly bald spot for god knows how long i mean the old garden center lot is a perfect example thats been untouched for years since that place went

sad...times moved on and it failed to adapt/keep-up. not helped by that shiny new building across the way

Probably couldn't compete with the fact that that shiny new building had an indoor ski slope and fitness centre as well as loads of restaurants inside.
