The titan looks sad because it is Eren who sees the rumble through the eyes of the colossals and sadly sees how he is killing innocents

The ending is perfect, it is essentialy this, but even more depressing: humanity does not learn from history, and history repeats itself over and over again.

@@Iolbox not really humanity has learned war is inevitable but eren must have achived peace for almost 2000 years or more and probably in that time they wouldve forgoten all about the titans further more in the end scene with the boy finding the tree with eren and probably the parisite there is one indication of him turning into the founding titan will be a better outcome then yimir becuase first of all he has a nice dog by his side while in contrast we see yimir being chased by a vicious dog and also the fact no one is hunting the boy down so he will probably use his power for good and do what eren couldnt achive pure freedom for everyone

@@-wholesometree-8945i think thats actually a great way to interpret how they left the open up to the viewers imagination. Id like to see a short story or an epilogue that presents this outcome of the founding titans powers being used for good. But tbh if they ever did reboot or do a continuation of the series i guarentee theyll just have the boy be the new founding titam and start the rumbling again and the narrative will just say that the rumblings completion was inevitable or something. I think its best aot is left where its at.
