In this episode of Solo Playthroughs, Greg is excited to present a 2nd Feature Film expansion of Final Girl*: Carnival of Blood. nice session and epic finale. I do have some remarks on the game: Probably the one withe the most impact on the game is that you seem to have skipped step 18 of setup, which is that you have to start with an event card in play. So all the events we have seen in the game would have shown up earlier. You did forget to roll an extra die when geppetto was on 1 health left. That was only for a single round when he died for the first time, but you did need to discard some cards to generate successes in that round. The other one is that you handled the puppets wrong in the final stage of the game. Once the finale card is revealed, there is no spawn anymore for the minions on the card. So the discussion if the puppet needed to move up doesn't really matter. But in general, if there are any puppets in the exhausted box at the end of the spawning step, they will move up.

Thanks a ton for this comment, Guzumi! I never remembered that you are supposed to start with an Event card in play. And obviously forgot that the spawning instruction came on the front side of Geppetto’s card. Genuinely always happy to be reminded about these types of things!

Hey, Jeff! It’s a solid game and the production is very nice. Pretty easy recommend, even if you just start with the core box and a couple feature films.

Take a drink every time Greg says "the rules are a little unclear"! : ) Glad to see you returning to this one, Greg. I really like the style and presentation of what Van Ryder has done, but I wish they hadn't been so egregiously loosey-goosey with the rules. It's a real disappointment, especially since I don't remember Hostage Negotiator ever being that sloppy. Still, Final Girl scoops together enough "stuff" for some really fun narratives, even if you have to fill in the gaps yourself. If you do more Final Girling -- and I hope you do! -- can I request a closer view of the board? Maybe it's just because I've played and I'm familiar with the cards, but it feels like the card market it taking up too much screen real estate. I'd much rather get a larger view of the yellow meeples getting killed! P.S. I wonder what your die roll distribution was for that playthrough. I know when people complain about rolling poorly, it's often just a matter of remembering the misses more than the hits. But it did seem like you had a really hard time getting 5s and 6s. Last roll excepted, of course.

Ha! Turning my videos into drinking games would be quite the interesting twist on my channel. :) I absolutely agree with you in preferring a tighter rulebook. As for getting a closer angle, I was actually thinking about that when I was editing, so I'll almost sure to test out a different layout the next time. And, yes, this did feel like one of those games when my roll distribution left a ton to be desired to say the least. I've had a few of these on camera - at least games like this tend to make better videos!

Final Girl is still available to late pledge on Kickstarter right now. Just go to Kickstarter and type in "Final Girl Series 2" and you can see the prices for the base game and various feature films. After the pledge manager closes, I'm guessing you'll eventually be able to find the game on Van Ryder's website.
