Final night for HISD teachers to decide if they will stay or go

Friday was the deadline for HISD teachers to decide whether they’d stay in the district or teach somewhere else.

Nothing will improve until they listen to teachers in an environment where those teachers feel completely comfortable with expressing the truth. Things like students behavior, pressures that drive grade inflation, lack of effort by students, the inability to fail ALL the students who don’t work or EARN a passing grade, those absolutely moronic state tests that, whether we like it or not drive every single instructional decision and form the basis for the curriculum. As well as the instructional mandates from the top down. The lack of any real support from administrators, especially when it comes to grades or students efforts and behavior in the classroom. To name but a few…

We in Michigan will welcome good teachers. We Pay Better, our state is BLUE politically mostly. We also dont have such crappy dangerous extremes in weather n a Governor n Senator who ignores fixing the power grid or ignores ,denies Climate change. I assure you youll get used to a few months of our Michigan winters too. Come "H.O.M.E.S."!😊

It’s possible your kids just aren’t smart. Or maybe they need parental engagement. I felt in school as a child because my parents never did anything to help me or even inquire about what went on at school. Once I got older I got all A’s with hardly ever studying, except for science, and rushed through my homework without really putting time into it. But I still got all A’s. But I was failing when my parents weren’t doing what they should’ve been doing. Of course you’ll never admit that you’re not doing what you should be for your kids, and I don’t know. But maybe you’re trying to help them or maybe you’re not, or maybe you’re trying to help them and just not good at it. Or who knows, maybe you’re doing everything perfectly and it’s really just a teacher or it’s your kids. IDK.
