Adventures in post hole digging. Been there, done that, same solutions, jumping on 3 point, followed by loader on another tractor, including pulling auger up with a chain. Bought new auger tips, new auger for PHD, was going to upgrade gear box to a new one, then for some reason, put the PHD on a 50 HP tractor, and suddenly drilled holes perfectly. Auger was rated for the smaller tractor, up to "almost as big" as the one I used. Try bigger tractor before spending money on a new PHD.

If I remember correctly isn't the top of the cross bar to the hoop actually at the bottom of the rim by 1 or 2 inches. It has only been 2 decades plus a few years since I built 1. I was 16 at the time and a under privilege neighborhood park last one had rusted away 11 years earlier according to the residences around it. So I had gotten a hoop and pole set from a school near where I lived and placed it on a Saturday morning in secret getting a forgiveness from the city later after I was working there. But I continued doing the same thing. My bosses told me that they could secretly agree with what I was doing but they didn't have the funding to do it, or to pay for it to be done. So on Friday afternoon just before we punched out I would set tractor up with a post hole diggers and would come in off the clock on Saturday morning and would set a goal up using fast drying quick crete with a mix of hydraulic cement added to it and fiberglass quick crete. A local Ace hardware was giving me a 50% off the concrete when they found out what I was doing. They didn't know I was working as a city employee full time. They just knew me as a young contractor and a contractors son. When I first started it.

I'm really surprised you don't have a hydraulic auger for your miniexcavator/ Kubota track loader....? I've had one on my Kubota'miniexcavator for several years and love it....you definitely have plenty of down pressure plus reverse unlike those 3 pt hitch PTO augers... Don't get it stuck on a tree roots or you'll be buying a new bit ! ...I even have a firewood splitter bit for mine that rips logs lengthwise and stumps too.... check out the Atom splitter on KZbin. You'll want one . Always funny watching your projects !! Especially the odd once you get into ! Good luck with everything and stay safe buddy...

So boys and girls be very careful with an auger is the word of the day!
